A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium can include instructions stored thereon that, when executed by at least one processor, are configured to cause a computing device to determine, in response to a change in a refresh rate of a display, an encoded intensity of at least a portion of an image presented by the display, determine that the encoded intensity is within a predetermined range, and based on determining that the encoded intensity is within the predetermined range, adjust an intensity of a signal for the portion of the image.

Maintaining luminance when refresh rate changes

A method may include measuring, from a device having a display panel configured to operate at a first refresh rate or a second refresh rate, a difference in luminance of the display panel between the first refresh rate and the second refresh rate for an input gray level. The method may also include applying, based on the measured difference in luminance, a value offset to a default gamma value used by the device for the input gray level when the display panel is operating at the second refresh rate, thereby generating a new gamma value. The method may further include storing, at the device, the new gamma value, where subsequent to the storing, the device is configured to override the default gamma value for the input gray level with the new gamma value when the display panel is operating at the second refresh rate.

Predictive gamma algorithm for multiple display refresh rates

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions stored thereon. When executed by at least one processor, the instructions can be configured to cause a computing device to, in response to an instruction to transition from a first refresh rate to a second refresh rate, modify a transitional frame. The modifying the transitional frame can include refreshing a first row in a display with a first adjustment to a peak signal of at least one pixel in the first row, and refreshing a second row in the display with a second adjustment to a peak signal of at least one pixel in the second row, the second row being refreshed after the second row, the second adjustment being greater than the first adjustment.

One of the methods includes receiving, from a content presentation device, a first signal set to a first value; completing generation of first visual content; and after completing the generation of the first visual content, determining that the first signal is set to the first value and a second threshold duration of time has not expired; sending, to the content presentation device, the first visual content, wherein sending the first visual content causes the content presentation device to change the first signal from the first value to the second value; and after sending the first visual content, receiving, from the content presentation device, the first signal set to the second value.

A system includes a display panel having an input to receive pixel data representative of a sequence of display images and an array of display elements. Each display element includes a first buffer stage, a second buffer stage coupled to the first buffer stage, and a light emitting diode (LED) coupled to the second buffer stage. The display panel further includes a controller to control the array of display elements to concurrently activate the LEDs of the array for a first time interval based on pixel data of a first display image stored at the second buffer stages of the array of display elements and to receive and store at least a portion of pixel data of a second display image at the first buffer stages of the array of display elements during the first time interval.

In a general aspect, a display device may include a flexible display having a substantially flat central portion and an end portion, a printed circuit film disposed on the end portion of the display, a panel member attached to the printed circuit film, the panel member being bent around a bend axis to form an edge of the display, and a support structure disposed inside of formed edge of the panel member, the support structure being non-parallel to the flat central portion of the display. The panel member may conform to a shape of the support structure.

During the time period of global illumination for the frame of image data, pixel data for a next frame of image data is buffered in a partial memory. After the period of global illumination for the frame of image data, the next frame of image data being buffered in the partial memory is read out of partial memory to the OLED panel and updates the previous frame of pixel data with the new pixel data.

A method and apparatus for controlling embedded raw image data within a display having internal memory. The method includes sending a frame of code and a final compilation of raw image data to the internal memory of the display from a primary host processor prior to the primary host processor entering a sleep state. When the primary host processor has entered a sleep state, control of the raw image data is redirected to at least one secondary host processor. The secondary host processor reads the frame of code within the internal memory of the display and instructs the display to perform an image-related behavior output that may include updating the display itself based on the frame of code found in the internal memory of the display.

In embodiments of display co-processing, a computing device includes a display, a full-power processor, and a low-power processor that can alter visual content presented by the display without utilizing the full-power processor. The low-power processor can, responsive to a request from the full-power processor, generate additional display data to update display data stored in a frame-buffer of the display. The low-power processor can then transmit the additional display data to the frame-buffer effective to alter at least a portion of the visual content presented by the display. In some embodiments, the additional display data is transmitted via a protocol converter that forwards the display data to the display using a display-specific communication protocol.

Disclosed are devices and methods for intradevice communication in a mobile communication device having a display. A method includes providing a supply signal and superimposing a data signal onto the supply signal. The method further includes driving a light source with the supply signal and the superimposed data signal to produce light to illuminate the display. Also included is sensing the light illuminating the display with an optical sensor, which is coupled to a receiver circuit, and then distinguishing the data signal from the sensed light with the receiver circuit. An image is formed on the display using the data signal distinguished with the receiver circuit.
