An example display system includes an on-screen display (OSD) circuit, an input/output (I/O) controller, and a map engine. The OSD circuit operates a functionality of a display device. The I/O controller routes input from a peripheral device to the OSD circuit when the OSD mode is active. The map engine causes activation of the OSD mode when an input sequence received by the I/O controller corresponds to an OSD mode activation sequence.

According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor that may access an assignment of a capability to a hardware port such as a Universal Serial Bus ('USB') port. The apparatus may virtualize a USB port, assign capabilities to the virtual USB port, and provide electrical communication via the USB port subject to the assigned capabilities. The electrical communication may include power delivered via the USB port, or data communicated via the USB port.

An example peripheral device includes circuitry to identify a target device that matches the device type identifier of the peripheral device. The example circuitry of the peripheral device is to cause selection of an input component device, transmission of a request to place the input component of the target device into an instruction set receiver mode, and operation of an output component of the peripheral device to produce audio output or video output that represents the instruction set in response to a determination that an instruction set version identifier of the target device mismatches the instruction set version identifier of the peripheral device.

In some examples, a display can modify brightness of displays using pixel luminance by detecting a luminance of pixels included on the display, and modifying a screen brightness of the display by modifying a brightness of a backlight of the display within a predetermined time when the detected luminance of the pixels on the display exceeds a predetermined luminance threshold.

According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor that may access an assignment of a component connected to a downstream USB port, from among a plurality of downstream USB ports that are downstream of a display device, to a first physical host device from among a plurality of physical host devices connected to the display device via respective upstream USB ports. The apparatus may bind, based on the assignment, the downstream USB port to a first upstream USB port that connects the first physical host device to the display device. The binding may cause the component to be coupled to the first physical host device. The apparatus facilitates assignment of individual components connected to downstream USB ports to one of a plurality of upstream USB ports.

An example system includes an input engine to determine an aspect ratio of each of a plurality of video signals input to the system. The system includes an arrangement engine to determine positions in a display area for the plurality of video signals based on the aspect ratio of each video signal. The system includes a display engine to output screen content corresponding to the plurality of video signals at the determined positions.

One example of a device includes a display screen, a machine readable storage medium storing instructions and Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) data, and a processor. The processor is to execute the instructions to provide an on-screen display control to enable a user to select one of a plurality of EDID standards and format the EDID data based on the selected EDID standard.

A keyboard includes a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to cause the processing resource to communicate, in response to the keyboard being in a computing device input mode, with a computing device connected to the keyboard, and communicate, in response to the keyboard being in a mobile device input mode, with a mobile device connected to the keyboard.

An example power controller includes a comparator to compare an amount of power supplied at a port of a display device to a first power threshold corresponding to a first operating mode of the display device and a second power threshold corresponding to a second operating mode of the display device. The first power threshold is different from the second power threshold. The power controller further includes a mode controller to configure the display device to operate in at least one of the first operating mode or the second operating mode based on an output of the comparator.

An example display device includes a first graphics input port to receive a first video signal, and a second graphics input port to receive a second video signal. A processor is provided to select extended display identification data (EDID) information associated with the display device, and change the EDID information of a full-screen resolution of the first and second video signals while a split screen output command is generated. A video scaler is provided to generate a split screen output with a full-screen display for both the first and second video signals based on the changed EDID information.

Displays having calibrators are disclosed. An example display includes a sensor to measure a plurality of readings for color settings of a color pattern presented by the display. A processor is to calculate average values corresponding to respective ones of the plurality of readings for the color settings. A calibration manager is to generate calibrated measurement values based on the average values. The calibrated measurement values to enable determination of color space information for the display.

A monitor includes: a circuit board; a display device controlled by the circuit board; and a touchpad to receive user input for the circuit board. The touchpad is slidable between a retracted position inside the monitor and an extended position where user input can be entered to the touchpad.

In an example, a display device with power inputs includes a first power input to receive a first amount of input power, a second power input to receive a second amount of input power, a power allocator to combine at least a portion of the first amount of power with at least a portion of the second amount of power to form a combined output power, and a universal serial bus (USB) port to output at least a portion of the combined output power to a peripheral device.

Example implementations relate to inactive state backlight operation. In some examples, a system may include a display. The display may include a liquid-crystal display (LCD) panel and a backlight to illuminate the LCD panel. The system may include a computing device comprising instructions executable to disable the LCD panel from displaying a live image while the display is in an inactive state. The system may include a computing device comprising instructions executable to reduce an electrical current supplied to the backlight while the display is in the inactive state from a first amount of electrical current associated with the active state to a second amount of electrical current to cause the backlight to reach an operating condition within a targeted length of time from reentering the active state.

In example implementations, a method to change a data transfer configuration of a data cable is provided. The method includes receiving a selection of a data transfer configuration option from a plurality of different data transfer configuration options of a data cable that has data lanes to transfer video data and non-video data. A reported number of supported resolutions or refresh rates is modified in accordance with the data transfer configuration option that is selected. The reported number of supported resolutions or refresh rates that is modified is then transmitted to a computing device connected to a display device via the data cable to transmit data via the data cable in accordance with the data transfer configuration option that is selected.
