A packet-filtering network appliance such as a threat intelligence gateway (TIG) protects TCP/IP networks from Internet threats by enforcing certain policies on in-transit packets that are crossing network boundaries. The policies are composed of packet filtering rules derived from cyber threat intelligence (CTI). Logs of rule-matching packets and their associated flows are sent to cyberanalysis applications located at security operations centers (SOCs) and operated by cyberanalysts. Some cyber threats/attacks, or incidents, are composed of many different flows occurring at a very high rate, which generates a flood of logs that may overwhelm computer, storage, network, and cyberanalysis resources, thereby compromising cyber defenses. The present disclosure describes incident logging, in which a single incident log efficiently incorporates the logs of the many flows that comprise the incident, thereby potentially reducing resource consumption while improving the informational/cyberanalytical value of the incident log for cyberanalysis when compared to the component flow logs. Incident logging vs. flow logging can be automatically and adaptively switched on or off depending on the combination of resource consumption and informational/cyberanalytical value.

Methods and systems for efficient adaptive logging of cyber threat incidents

Aspects of the disclosure relate to identity-based DNS-traffic routing and monitoring. A computing platform may establish, using an encrypted DNS process, a secure DNS session by executing an encrypted session handshake with a client device, which may include receiving a security certificate for the encrypted DNS process that identifies a user of the client device. The computing platform may receive an encrypted DNS query request comprising a request for an IP address for a specified domain name. The computing platform may determine, based on the security certificate, an identity of the user. The computing platform may determine, based on the identity of the user, a security policy indicating domain matching criteria and corresponding actions to take on matching domain names. The computing platform may determine a first action corresponding to the domain name, and may send, based on the first action, an encrypted DNS query response.

Identity-based application of domain filtering rules using domain name system (DNS) platform

A method for constructing a bridge includes the steps of disposing a bridge form and a connected support structure over an area to be spanned by the bridge. Next, concrete is poured into the bridge form. Finally, the support structure is disconnected and removed from the bridge form. The bridge forms are carried or supported by beams positioned over the area to be spanned. The forms may be carried directly by the beams or by support assemblies suspended from the beams may carry the bridge forms. Trolleys may be used to position portions of the forms between or below the beams.

Methods for constructing a bridge utilizing in-situ forms supported by beams

A transmission apparatus includes an input shaft; an output shaft; a ring gear having internal ring gear teeth and having a ring gear central axis; a ring gear constraining structure constraining the ring gear to move translationally along a substantially circular path about the input shaft rotational axis without rotating about its own central axis relative to the apparatus; a mechanism for continuously changing the distance between the ring gear central axis and the input shaft rotational axis; a pinion gear having a diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the ring gear and retained with the ring gear so that its rotational axis is parallel with the ring gear central axis; and held in engagement with the ring gear teeth by a pinion gear constraining structure rotationally connected to an apparatus output shaft; where each time the input shaft rotates one revolution, the ring gear constraint structure moves the ring gear one revolution translationally along the circular path around the input shaft rotational axis, and the distance between the input shaft rotational axis and the ring gear central axis defines the diameter of the circular path over which the pinion gear travels during a single input shaft revolution, and thus defines the distance over which the pinion gear rolls for each revolution.

Continuously variable gearing transmission

An engine includes an engine block containing a spherical compartment with an equatorial zone removed to create an annular gap, a ring member slidably encircling the annular gap having an outer surface and having an opening to permit the passage of combustion gases which periodically aligns with a port in the engine block, a hinge pin mounted within the ring member and extending through the center point of the sphere, first and second divider members, each having a connecting end and a free end, the connecting end of which includes a tube section which surrounds the hinge pin, and the free end of which is directed toward, abuts and conforms to the sphere surface which, together, separate the sphere into two combustion chambers having variable volumes, such that as one combustion chamber expands the other combustion chamber correspondingly contacts, a slot in the surface of the free end of each divider member extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the hinge pin, a fulcrum member projecting from the sphere into each slot to guide the divider members, an ignition mechanism mounted in the sphere to ignite a fuel air mixture within the sphere alternately on either side of the dividing members.

Spherical engine

A continuously variable transmission having pulleys mounted on parallel input and output shafts and an endless belt engaging both pulleys for power transmission from the input shaft to the output shaft. The pulley on the output shaft is split into axially spaced halves having facing conical surfaces for variation of the radius at which the belt engages such pulley. One or both halves of the pulley on the output shaft have threaded bores mating with threaded portions of the output shaft.

Continuously variable transmission

A continuously variable transmission comprising a plurality of spokes extending radially from a spoke shaft upon which the spokes are mounted for circular movement about the spoke shaft. A driven ring is positioned relative to the spoke shaft to be engaged by one end of each spoke each time a spoke aligns with a selected direction from the spoke shaft so that movement of the spokes about the spoke shaft will rotate the driven ring by consecutive engagement of the spokes with the driven ring. The spokes are moved circularly about the spoke shaft by a rotating driving ring that extends about the spoke shaft and has a plurality of equally spaced apertures formed radially therethrough to pass the spokes through the driving ring. The driving ring is supported for sliding movement parallel to the selected direction of extension of the spokes for which the spokes engage the driven ring to vary the gear ratio of the transmission.

A vane support ring is mounted within a housing to rotate about its axis and support vanes which pivot about diameters of the vane support ring and divide the interior of the housing into two chambers. Drive shafts, pivotally attached to the vanes, extend through drive shaft apertures formed through the housing to coordinate pivotation of the vanes to rotation of the vane support ring so that the two chambers increase and decrease in volume with rotation of the vane support ring. Gases are introduced into the chambers via an inlet port and discharged from the chambers via an exhaust port that are opened and closed in coordination with vane support ring rotation by poppet valves and a cam ring geared to the vane support ring and extending about the poppet valves or, alternatively, by a slotted valve ring extending circularly about the housing and geared to the vane support ring. A spark plug or fuel injector mounted on the housing provides a combusting fuel in each chamber at minimum chamber volume.

Internal combustion engine

A turbine comprising a housing and a vane assembly rotatably mounted in the housing for rotation about the axis of a ring forming a portion of the vane assembly. Vanes are mounted on the ring to pivot about diameters of the ring and sealing surfaces are formed on the vanes to mate with the inner surface of the housing and thereby divide the interior of the housing into an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber. The chambers move about the ring axis as the ring rotates and expand and contract with pivotation of the vanes on the ring. Drive shafts pivotally attached to the vanes extend through the housing wall so that rotation of the vane assembly will cause rotation of the drive shafts. The drive shafts further relate the vane assembly rotation to pivotation of the vanes on the ring so that pivotation of the vanes caused by pressurizing the inlet chamber while exhausting the outlet chamber will rotate the vane assembly and drive shafts. Ports formed through the housing wall and slots formed through the ring wall to provide fluid communication to the inlet and outlet chambers are positioned to cause a reversal between the inlet and outlet chambers for a selected position of the vane assembly in the housing so that the vane assembly will always rotate in the same direction.

Constant displacement turbine with vane which pivots and rotates

A rotary motor comprising a housing having an internal chamber formed therein. Energy input means power orbital movement of a rotor about the internal chamber and simultaneously power rotational movement of the rotor about a first rotational axis. An orbital coupling assembly causes the movement of the rotor to drivingly power rotation of an output shaft. The rotor has three lobes which define the vertices of an equilateral triangle having a circumscribed circle of radius R. A tool assembly comprising a tool member receivable in a recess formed in a driven member. The tool member comprises a shank element, a plurality of tier elements integrally stacked coaxially thereon, and an apex element. Each of the tier and apex elements comprises first and second torque sections, each of which comprise first and second side surfaces subtending the same predetermined angle, a riser surface interconnecting the side surfaces, and a step surface. The recess in the driven member is characterized by member walls which are drivingly engagable with the side surfaces of the tool member.

Torque-transmitting tool assembly

A tool assembly comprising a drive member, a driven member, and a torque transfer assembly for transferring torque applied to the drive member to the driven member when said members are engaged. The torque transfer assembly includes a male portion formed on one of the drive and driven members and a female portion formed on the other of said members, the male portion being engagable with the female portion via radial projections formed on the male portion which are inserted into mating recesses in the female portion.
