An apparatus and method for moving a window sash relative to a window frame. A window comprises a frame and a sash pivotally connected to the frame. A plurality of members are positioned between the sash and the frame, and the plurality of members are arranged in a series. A plurality of magnet sets comprise at least a first magnet operably connected to one member in the series of members and at least a second magnet operably connected to another member in the series of members. The first magnet is adjacent the second magnet, and at least one of the first or second magnets is an electromagnet. Energizing the electromagnets causes the members in the series of members to move relative to each other and causes the sash to move relative to the frame.

Automatic operation of building window using magnetic fields

An in-line gas flow rate sensor includes a movable flow orifice and a fixed flow restrictor adjacent the flow orifice for changing the gas flow through the flow orifice. The flow orifice and the flow restrictor are formed so that each uniform increment of flow orifice movement provides a constant percent of flow change through the flow orifice. A magnet fixed to the movable flow orifice provides changing magnetic flux corresponding to each uniform increment of flow restrictor movement. A magnetic flux sensor responds to the changing magnetic flux and provides an output corresponding to a constant percent of flow rate changes.

A stabilizer for fluid pressure regulators enhancing regulator stability without affecting the regulator capacity. A stabilizer cartridge with a flexible flapper element has three flapper apertures symmetrically located around the flapper outer perimeter. Each aperture is centered within a window of the stabilizer. Means are provided to mount the stabilizer in proper location and orientation of the apertures within the regulator lower casing throat to sense downstream pressure without affecting regulator capacity.

A regulator valve having a globe type valve body includes a deformable diaphragm for controlling the fluid flow between the a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The deformation of the diaphragm, which is controlled by a pilot pressure introduced into a control chamber within the valve, causes the diaphragm to selectively covers and uncovers a plurality of apertures in a frustoconical baffle to control the flow through the valve. The valve includes a first diaphragm support provided in the control chamber and a second diaphragm support provided on the opposite side of the diaphragm. The second diaphragm support comprises a plurality of concentric cylinders and cross members which form an upper concave surface to correspond to a convex portion of the diaphragm so that the diaphragm is substantially uniformly supported.

A diaphragm type regulator valve includes a pusher post with outwardly extending stop ears coupled to the diaphragm. The linkage coupling the pusher post and valve disc includes a lever having a pair of legs that engage a pin in a bifurcated portion of the pusher post for transmitting forces between the diaphragm and the valve disc. A retainer is rigidly mounted to the valve casing and pivotally supports the lever. The retainer includes a pair of stops that straddle the pusher post and extend in the path of travel of the stop ears thereon for positively restraining travel of the pusher post beyond a predetermined point should an excess pressure condition exist. Restraining travel of the pusher post prevents excessive stress on the linkage. A one piece plastic pressure relieve indicator mechanism is also disclosed.

A pressure relief diaphragm type regulator valve includes a velocity boost body having an annular-shaped wrap-around pitot tube communicating with the vena contracta of a flowpath. The pressure at the vena contracta is communicated to the diaphragm by a small registration orifice in the boost body. The boost body defines a large relief orifice open to the annular pitot tube, but normally closed off from the diaphragm by a flapper. Under a rapid excess pressure condition, the flapper uncovers the relief orifice and large volume flow is permitted to the diaphragm.

A rolling diaphragm regulator valve is affixed in a globe type valve body and includes a non-stretchable fabric reinforced liner for covering and uncovering, by rolling action in response to changes in pressure in a control chamber, a plurality of slots in a baffle positioned between the valve body inlet and outlet. An axially movable spring-biased nose cone, mounted behind the diaphragm, provides a surface over which the diaphragm is draped for controlling substantially all movement of the diaphragm. A travel indicator is operable by movement of the nose cone to provide a visual indication of the position of the valve.

Control regulator having a rolling diaphragm

An extremely accurate and reliable fluid pressure sensor for monitoring process pressure and sensing when predetermined pressure set points or limits have been reached. A Bourdon tube with a pivotally moving lever end responds to the process pressure. When the process pressure is within the desired pressure range, a fluid operated block and bleed relay is operated to provide a first pressure level at its outlet. As the preset pressure point is reached, the relay is operated to provide a change in the outlet pressure level for actuating suitable safety units. A pivoting beam responds to pivoting movement of the Bourdon tube lever arm about the pressure set points and effectively amplifiers or increases such movement to rapidly operate the relay. Snap-acting cap means with a self-aligning disc cap a nozzle port in the relay in response to pivoting beam movement.

High-low pressure pilot

A pilot-operated back pressure regulator of simplified design and construction having a balanced valve plug attached to a diaphragm actuator and secured to the regulator body by bolts for ready simultaneous removal of the plug and actuator. The diaphragm divides the actuator into two cavities; a spring cavity acting to close the valve plug and pressure balancing cavity. A pilot valve is in communication with the inlet pressure to the regulator body, the spring cavity and an exhaust to regulate the inlet pressure to flex the diaphragm. In a preferred embodiment O-ring seals are located between (a) the valve plug and the valve seat, (b) the valve plug and its guide, and (c) the valve plug guide and the regulator body.
