A plastic closure comprising a base wall and a peripheral skirt. The base wall has an inner surface and a liner is bonded to the inner surface of the base wall of the closure. The liner comprises a fusion blend of a linear ethylene polymer made utilizing single-site catalysts and a lubricant. Preferably the linear ethylene polymer is selected from the group consisting of ethylene-1-octene copolymers and ethylene-1-butene copolymers. The liner is preferably compression molded in the closure. The lubricant comprises an amide, preferably selected from the group consisting of oleamide, erucamide, stearamide, and EBS (ethylene bis stearamide).

Lined plastic closure

A plastic closure including a base wall having an inner surface, a peripheral skirt extending from the base wall and a liner on the inner surface of the base wall. The liner includes (a) an ethylene vinyl acetate composition, (b) a primary fatty acid amide and (c) a bis-fatty acid amide. Preferably the primary fatty acid amide comprises an oleamide or an erucamide, and the bis-fatty acid amide comprises ethylene-bis-stearamide.

Plastic closure with compression molded sealing liner

The present invention provides a method of lining a plastic closure top with a thermoplastic, non-cross linked curable, vinyl chloride copolymer plastisol composition that is plasticized with an effective low temperature fusing amount of (A) an epoxidized natural oil, (B) an organic diglycidyl ether and (C) a curing agent for the diglycidyl ether, the plastisol being stable with a shelf life of at least about four months, the method including heating, without preheating, the lining and the closure top at a temperature not over about 300.degree. F. for about 90 to 120 seconds using convection heating without pressure and without conductive heating, to fuse the composition and thereafter solidifying the fused composition and thereafter cure the composition to provide the lining with tensile and elongation measurements sufficient for a stable closure assembly.

Closure assembly and method of making same using epoxidized natural oil

Closure assembly using epoxidized natural oil in a low fusing plastisol

A vinyl chloride copolymer foam plastisol with an epoxidized natural oil plasticizer such as epoxidized soybean oil and a blowing agent, the plastisol having a long shelf life and the plastisol easily being applied as a liner to the underside of a closure top and fused, without preheating, at a relatively low temperature of about 300.degree. C. for a short time of about 90 to 120 seconds to form a foam liner, the solidified foam plastisol having resilience, good tensile and elongation properties to thereby provide a stable gasket assembly.

A plastisol-lined metal closure of the press-on, twist-off type and having improved top load resistance to permit containers capped with such closures to be packaged in open top trays, the plastisol lining having a density of at least approximately 58 pounds per cubic foot, and in a closure for a 51 millimeter container, a thickness in the container rim engaging portion thereof, before application to the container, of at least approximately 0.024 inch, a thickness in the portion thereof which engages the portion of the container finish below the threaded portion of the finish, before application to the container, of at least approximately 0.025 inch, and a thickness in the portion thereof which engages the portion of the container finish above the threaded portion, before application to the container, of no greater than approximately 0.026 inch.

Press-on, twist-off plastisol-lined metal closure

A thermoset polymer coating with an effective ink-releasing amount of a liquid, organic soluble dimethyl- or methyl/alkyl organopolysiloxane for use in a closure assembly, the assembly including a metal closure with a top and depending skirt, the thermoset polymer coating being applied to the inside closure top and printed with ink indicia, a polyvinyl acetate coating applied over the ink, and the ink indicia being removed on the polyvinyl acetate-coated liner by the customer for promotional purposes such as for prizes, etc.

Thermoplastic adhesive polycarbonamide-ester compositions having molecular weights ranging from about 2000 to 7000, a viscosity of about 2000 to 5000 centipoise at 160.degree.C. and a tensile shear strength of about 75 to 140 pounds per 1 inch .times. 1/2 inch lap, which are useful in the formation of creep resistant adhesive bonds in product assembly between laminae of relatively impervious materials such as glass, metals and certain of the plastics, e.g. polyethylene.
