A microbicidal composition comprising relatively high levels of a mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one; a metal nitrate; and water. The composition optionally contains magnesium chloride.

Disclosed is an improved method for the preparation of highly pure haloformimine compounds in high yields by reacting a formimine compound in a solvent with a halogenating agent while maintaining the pH of the halogenation reaction in the range of 2 to 5. The pH of the reaction may be maintained by a variety of means, such as by the addition of a base.

Synthesis of haloformimine compounds

Disclosed is a method for the preparation of carbamate compounds substantially free of by-products; the carbamate compounds being prepared by reacting an isocyanate with a hydroxylated compound in the presence of certain catalysts that increase the rate of carbamylation while decreasing the rate of by-product formation.
