Systems and methods for acquiring laser capture microdissection samples are disclosed. A scattering media is located within a beam path defined by the laser capture microdissection microscope and the sample is imaged through the scattering media. A transfer film carrier includes a substrate surface and a laser capture microdissection transfer film coupled to the substrate surface of the transfer film carrier. The scattering media is optically coupled to a laser capture microdissection transfer film being located in or attached to the laser capture microdissection transfer film or transfer film carrier. The systems and methods provide improved sample imaging and facilitate quick and accurate laser capture microdissection while simultaneously minimizing contamination.

An autostereoscopic viewer is employed to produce aberration corrected images to simulate a virtual presence by employing pairs of projector optical components coupled with an image corrector plate and a field lens. Images are designed with magnifications and optical qualities and positioned at predetermined eyezones having controlled directional properties. The viewer's eyes are positioned in these eyezones. The size of these zones is related to the aperture of the projection lenses, the magnification produced by the Fresnel(s), and the optical properties and position of the image corrector plate.

A thermoplastic film for LCM tissue transfer is thermally coupled to a broadband energy-absorbing material. The broadband energy-absorbing material may either be introduced into the film composition as a dopant or may be in thermal contact with the film.

A method of making a laser capture microdissection consumable includes providing a transfer film carrier having a substrate surface; and fabricating a laser capture microdissection transfer film on said substrate surface, wherein forming includes hot vacuum baking said laser capture microdissection transfer film. The systems and methods facilitate quick and accurate laser capture microdissection while simultaneously minimizing contamination.
