The present disclosure provides systems for controlling infusion of one or more supplements into blood received from a patient. The systems include at least one an extracorporeal circulatory support system including a pump, fluid conduits, and at least one a sensor configured to measure one or more parameters of the blood. The system also may include a fluid flow regulator coupled to the extracorporeal circulatory support system. The system receives measurement signals corresponding to parameters of blood from the at least one sensor and determines one or more target values for the parameters of blood based on a patient profile and/or the measurements. The system may control the fluid flow regulator to cause an infusion of at least one supplemental fluid from a supplemental fluid source into the blood.

Apparatus for oxygenating and pumping blood includes a housing defining a blood flow path including, in series, a gas collection plenum, a pump space and a blood oxygenation element. A pump disposed in the pump space is configured to draw blood from the gas collection plenum and propel blood from the pump space through a heat exchanger and the blood oxygenation element. The heat exchanger includes a heat exchange plate and a coolant space.

An athetectomy catheter is disclosed having a composite cutter which is capable of cutting material, including hardened plaque, from a biological conduit. The composite cutter has a cutter and a sensor mount. The cutter has a proximal end and a distal end with a cutting edge. The proximal end of the cutter bonds with the sensor mount. The sensor mount is adaptable for holding a sensor and attaching to a cutter torque cable of an atherectomy catheter. Typically, the atherectomy catheter has a cutter housing with a window. The composite cutter is positioned in the cutter housing and moves in response to movement of the cutter torque cable to cut material from the biological conduit via the window.

A lighting fixture for filming motion pictures includes a lamp housing having a rear bezel and a front three-sided frame. A rear reflector slidably attaches to the rear of the lamp housing over the bezel. A snoot has a rear bezel slidably fit into the three-sided front frame on the lamp housing. The snoot has a front frame similar or identical to the front frame on the lamp housing, so that a second snoot can be slidably attached onto the first snoot. The frames form slots for receiving and holding gels. The lighting fixture may used as a simple open front reflective lighting fixture, or the snoots or gels may be added to achieve various lighting conditions.

A medical and surgical dressing has an expansion system designed to cover, yet be spaced apart from, a healing wound when the dressing is applied. In its expanded configuration, the dressing is bubble shaped. The dressing includes an adhesive material for adhering to the skin of a patient surrounding the wound, and further includes several layers of material which permit circulation and filtration of air entering the space defined by the expanded bubble. The dressing and expansion system avoid direct contact with the healing wound, yet fully protect the wound from the outside environment.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for the preparation of what is commonly known as 'fast foods' such as french fried potatoes. The method of the present invention pre-cooks food in a non-fat environment such as a microwave oven. Thereafter, the food is transported by a conveyor system through different cooking stations, at least one of which sprays the pre-cooked food with closely monitored quantities and concentrations of heated oil. The sprayed oil may be mixed with water or air and sprayed under pressure at elevated temperatures. In this manner, the prepared food has the appearance, taste and texture as though it were cooked in the traditional way, but is not saturated with oil as it would be if it were immersed in a heated vat. In other aspects of the invention, the conveyor system may provide an oscillating or lateral movement to the food that it is transporting to uniformly distribute the sprayed oil over the surface of the food, and to shake excess oil from the food. The conveyor system includes a wire mesh food support so that the sprayed oil may penetrate the under surface of the food and any excess sprayed oil may drip from the conveyor system to avoid over-saturation of the sprayed food.

A foldable board is useful for developing, presenting to clients and storing key video and audio portions of proposed TV commercials. The board preferably has three panels joined together by a decorative backing or cover and foldable along vertical lines. Each panel has a front facing having two or more vertically spaced windows cut out in the shape of a TV screen and adjacent the window is a slot through which a sketch of a TV scene may be inserted. Below each window is space to attach a label bearing an audio statement corresponding to the video scene in the window. Behind the facing is a sheet of vinyl or other material and behind the vinyl is a stiffener of cardboard or the like. Each sketch is inserted through the appropriate slit and adheres to the vinyl by friction and tight fit. Scenes and labels may be changed as production of the commercial develops.
