One embodiment provides an air baffle assembly for controlling airflow through a cable opening in a rack. The rack is configured for removably supporting a plurality of modular electronic components. The cable opening on the rack receives a plurality of cables connected to the modular electronic components. The air baffle assembly includes a track secured to the rack adjacent to the cable opening and an air baffle movably supported on the track over the cable opening. The track includes a rail guideway. The air baffle includes at least a flexible first rail movably received by the first rail guideway. The first rail flares laterally along a range of engagement of the first rail with the first rail guideway, to bias the air baffle in one longitudinal direction.

A keyblock is shown for use in a computer cage having an interior and a guide rail for guiding a logic-card book into position within the interior. The keyblock is installed within a cage guide opening provided at an end of the guide rail within the cage interior by means of a downwardly projecting dart which is received within the opening in snap-fit fashion. Locating pins on the keyblock lower surface properly position and align the keyblock within the cage guide opening. Contoured regions on the keyblock upper surface engage and lead-in a complimentary surface located on the logic-card book being received within the cage interior. One or more slots provided between selected contoured regions provide a coded pattern which matches a pattern provided on the desired logic-card book to be received in a predetermined position within the cage interior.

Device for improving computer cage slot keying

A computer system unit which includes an acoustic dampening cooling fan shroud panel mounted on a rear surface thereof. The computer system unit is generally rectangular, encloses an electronic component package and includes a front panel and a pair of generally parallel side panels. An intermediate rear panel, generally parallel to the front panel, mounts one or more cooling fans which draw air through the generally rectangular unit. A cooling fan shroud panel which includes an acoustic noise reduction lining is then mounted to the intermediate rear panel. The cooling fan shroud panel includes an aperture for ventilation which is displaced from the mounting position of the cooling fans such that acoustic noise resultant from cooling fan operation is minimized. The aperture within the cooling fan shroud panel extends into at least one surface thereof which is not parallel to either the side panel or the intermediate rear panel wherein ventilation is substantially unobstructed by adjacent vertical surfaces.

A structure is shown having three stages for guiding a system component into an operatively mounted position within an enclosure while simultaneously making a blind attachment of the electrical connectors to complete the power and signal circuits between the component and system contained within the enclosure. A coarse positioning structure includes a guide rail means for directing the component toward the operative, mounted position; an intermediate positioning structure functions within the tolerance of the coarse positioning means to substantially align the component including the electrical connectors and a fine positioning means aligns the electrical connectors for the final positioning as the component is latched into the operating position and electrical connections are completed. The three positioning functions are intitated serially.
