Liquid dispensing apparatus and methods for dispensing pressurized liquid including the use of a pressure relief and bypass valve. The liquid dispensing apparatus may include a pump operatively connected to a liquid reservoir and one or more liquid dispensers. A pressure relief and bypass valve is generally connected between an outlet of the pump and the liquid dispenser for providing both a pressure relief function and a bypass cleaning or flushing function. The bypass function helps prevent contaminants from lodging or accumulating within the valve.

An electromagnetic dispenser for dispensing viscous heated fluids, such as hot melt adhesives. A fixed pole extends from a fluid chamber. The coil is located about a portion of the fixed pole and spaced from the fluid chamber to isolate the coil from the fluid flow path of the adhesive. The coil is insulated from the heat which is conducted from the adhesive as well as provided with a heat sink for dissipating heat. A plunger is mounted within the fluid chamber for reciprocal movement therein to open and close dispensing orifice in response to the field generated by the coil. When mounted to a service block, the coil assembly may be serviced without disconnecting the dispenser body from the source of heated fluid.

An apparatus for dispensing viscous fluids, such as adhesives, sealants, caulks is actuated by an electromagnetic coil assembly (42,136) in conjunction with a magnet (38,126) mounted to a plunger (26,118). Energizing the coil assembly produces an electromagnetic field which cooperates with the magnetic field to cause the plunger to open. Closing results from reversing the electromagnetic field.

Electric dispenser

An electromagnetic dispenser (10) for dispensing viscous heated fluids, such as hot melt adhesives. A fixed pole (50) extends from a fluid chamber (20). The coil (46) is located about a portion of the fixed pole (50) and spaced from the fluid chamber to isolate the coil from the fluid flow path of the adhesive. The coil is insulated from the heat which is conducted from the adhesive as well as provided with a heat sink (88) for dissipating heat. A plunger (32) is mounted within the fluid chamber for reciprocal movement therein to open and close dispensing orifice in response to the field generated by the coil.

A fluid pressure operated piston engine assembly, such as a pump assembly, including a fluid pressure operated piston engine and a fluid valve for coupling fluid under pressure to alternative portions of the piston chamber of the piston engine. The fluid valve includes a valve spool which is translated to effect the alternative modes of coupling pressurized fluid to the piston chamber. The translation is accomplished by a shifter assembly having a shifter rod attached to the valve spool. The shifter rod includes a pair of diametrically opposed magnets attached thereto. A fork is attached to the piston engine drive shaft at one end and is mounted for limited movement along the shifter rod between the pair of magnets of the shifter rod. The interaction between the flux generated by a magnet carried by the fork with one of the magnets of the shifter rod causes the shifter rod, and in turn the valve spool, to shift from one position to another, thereby re-directing the flow of fluid to the piston chamber to effect the reversal of direction of travel of the piston and its associated drive shaft.

An apparatus for adjusting the relative position of two or more material dispensers comprises a first module adapted to connect to a source of material, and a second module which is axially movable with respect to the first module. The first and second modules each mount at least one material dispenser such that a material pasageway formed in each module is connected to a discharge bore formed in each material dispenser. The passageways in the first and second modules, in turn, are interconnected by a pair of pivot arms arranged in a scissors-like configuration which extend between the modules, and are movable between an extended and retracted position in response to movement of the second module, so that each dispenser can be supplied with material from a single supply line.

Quick-adjusting, multiple dispenser positioner

A multi-orifice T-bar nozzle includes a nozzle body having a mounting plate adapted to connect to the body of a hot melt thermoplastic adhesive dispenser, and an internal adhesive flow path formed by an inlet at the top wall of the nozzle body adapted to receive adhesive from the adhesive dispenser, a number of outlets at the bottom wall thereof which extrude adhesive beads and a distribution passageway interconnecting the inlet and outlets. The nozzle body progressively tapers from the top, center portion thereof to its extremities, i.e., to the end portions and bottom of the nozzle body, so that the temperature differential between the adhesive entering the inlet of the nozzle body, and the adhesive discharged from the outlets, is minimized.

Airline headsets are packaged in a reusable container. The container is affixed to the cord of the headset near the connection which inserts into the plug in the passenger seat arm. The reusable container provides for advertising which underwrites the cost of the head set and the container to an extent that it is less costly to give the passengers the headsets on a complimentary basis than to handle them in the familiar manner.
