An improved AM OLED pixel circuit and method of wide dynamic range dimming for AM OLED displays are disclosed that maintain color balance throughout the dimming range, and also maintain the uniformity of the luminance and chromaticity of the display at low gray-levels as the display is dimmed to lower luminance values. As such, AM OLED displays can meet the stringent color/dimming specifications required for existing and future avionics, cockpit, and hand-held military device display applications. Essentially, the OLED pixel circuit and method of dimming that are disclosed use Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) of the OLED pixel current to achieve the desired display luminance. Two example circuits are disclosed that externally PW modulate the common cathode voltage or common power supply voltage to modulate the OLED current in order to achieve the desired display luminance. Three example circuits are disclosed that incorporate additional transistor switches in the pixel circuit to modulate the OLED current during the frame time. By PWM of the OLED current, in combination with data voltage (or current) modulation, wide dynamic range dimming can be achieved while maintaining the color balance and the luminance and chromaticity uniformity required over the surface of the display involved.

Active matrix organic light emitting diode display

An improved method of creating a waterproof seal for post tension cable systems roughens and decontaminates the cable's stressing end pocket with a diamond bladed reaming tool and closes the newly formed cavity with epoxy resin and a precasted plug made of non-shrink grout. The method includes pouring a concrete slab around an anchor and a pocket former through which a cable passes and is held by wedges. After the pocket former is removed and the cable is stressed, the cable is cut and a grease cap is applied. The system ensures that the cable is properly cut, the grease cap is properly seated, the inside of the pocket is roughened, and the seal at the cable's stressing end is waterproof. Furthermore, the invention aids in removing previously grouted pockets when cable remediation is needed and closing the pocket with a precasted plug when cable remediation is completed.

Methods and systems for displaying an image on a display device having first and second light sources are provided. A video signal is provided to the display device. The video signal includes first and second video frames. Each video frame includes first and second sub-frames corresponding to the respective first and second light sources. The first light source is operated for a first duration during the first sub-frame of the first video frame. The first light source is operated for a second duration during the first sub-frame of the second video frame. The second duration is different from the first duration.

A flexible conductor formed on a flexible substrate. In one embodiment, a semiconductor device is disclosed. The semiconductor device comprises a periodic structure of islands and at least one conductor. The at least one conductor comprises a series of repeating geometric features affixed to the periodic structure of islands. The geometric features of the conductor are adapted to stretch the conductor rather than break the conductor when the substrate is bent.

Variable capacity binder

A lamp driver system that facilitates improved reliability and performance for a display system is provided. The lamp driver system includes a fault detector and an output steering device. The fault detector determines when a failure occurs in a lamp illuminating the display system. The output steering device selectively drives the lamps to illuminate the display system. Specifically, when a failure in a first lamp is detected by the fault detector, the output steering device is used to selectively drive a second lamp to provide the needed illumination to the display system. The lamp driver system thus can provide redundancy in the display system by automatically switching to a backup lamp when a failure in the first lamp is detected. This redundancy can improve the reliability and performance of the display system.

An aperture lamp system that facilitates improved reliability and performance in a display system is provided. The aperture lamp system provides improved reliability by providing a second lamp coupled to a first lamp through a coupling aperture. When the first lamp fails, the second lamp can be used to provide illumination to the display. Specifically, light from the second lamp passes through the coupling aperture to the first lamp, where it can exit the first lamp and illuminate the display. Thus, by coupling the first and second lamps together through a coupling aperture, a lamp system is provided where either the first lamp or second lamp can be used to provide illumination for the display. Thus, the first and second lamps provide redundancy, with this redundancy used to improve the reliability of the display system.

The present invention discloses a torque restraining device to resist the lateral shifting or rotation of a self adhering drill unit due to the torque generated by the drill motor. The torque restraining device includes a penetrating member mounted on the bottom of the drill unit for penetrating the work surface to prevent rotation of the drill unit during use. The penetrating member is embedded by the action of the drill unit being pulled to the work surface when the mounting base of the drill unit is activated. In the preferred embodiments, a protective sleeve is reciprocally mounted about the penetrating member to encase the penetrating member to prevent damage when the base is not activated. Upon activating the base, the sleeve retracts to expose the penetrating member for penetration into the work surface. The protective sleeve or glide post protects the conical end of the penetrating member and when the base is not activated lifts the rear of the drill unit from the work surface to disengage the penetration member and to facilitate easy sliding of the drill unit. In a further embodiment of the invention, a driving means is included to facilitate penetration.
