An intermediating network is adapted to intermediate between originating and servicing networks. A first set of communications addresses in the originating network that originates communications to the servicing network is identified. A second set of communications addresses in the servicing network that service the communications originating in the originating network is identified. An incompatibility between the first and second sets of communications addresses that would prevent a communication from the first set of communications addresses from reaching the second set of communications addresses is identified. The incompatibility includes a number of communications addresses in the first set of communications addresses exceeding a tolerance of the servicing network. The intermediating network is adapted so that a communication from the first set of communications addresses is sent to the servicing network via the intermediating network when the tolerance of the servicing network is exceeded.

Intelligent route management for diverse ecosystems

In a network service provider environment, a number of interconnection routing configuration templates provide a consistent approach for configuring associated interconnect network segments between enterprise network customer sites and cloud service providers. At least two types of configuration template are used to create at least two types of routing arrangement: a first template for creating an 'unconstrained' routing arrangement having 'any to any' connections; and a second template for creating a &#x201c;partitioned&#x201d; routing arrangement in which traffic between partitions must be operated on by a virtual network function. Additionally, the &#x201c;partitioned&#x201d; routing arrangement may use either a shared VPN or a segregated VPN facing the cloud service providers. The use of the interconnection routing configuration templates may be automated. The interconnection routing configuration templates can be applied in a recursive fashion to different parts of the end-to-end connectivity.

A system for indirect border gateway routing comprising a provider edge router; at least one virtual routing and forwarding instance in communication with the provider edge router, each virtual routing and forwarding instance including a route target; a pointer identification list in communication with the provider edge router, the pointer identification list containing at least one route target associated with a virtual routing and forwarding instance; and a virtual routing and forwarding import instance adapted to receive a route from the provider edge router, the route including a pointer identification directing the virtual routing and forwarding import instance to scan the pointer identification list for the route target associated with the plural virtual routing and forwarding instance, and wherein the virtual routing and forwarding import instance is further adapted to import the route to the at least one virtual routing and forwarding instance having a route target on the pointer identification list.

A disclosed example method includes receiving a selection of a cloud networking template from a client, wherein the cloud networking template includes a data center connector type and a wide area network connector type, configuring a virtual machine on a host server based on the cloud networking template, configuring a data center connector based on the data center connector type, configuring a wide area network connector based on the wide area network connector type, and coupling the wide area network connector to the data center connector and coupling the data center connector to the virtual machine within the host server to enable the client to access the virtual machine.

Methods and apparatus to provision cloud computing network elements

An intermediating network is adapted to intermediate between an originating network and a servicing network. A first set of communications addresses in the originating network that can be used to originate communications to the servicing network are identified. A second set of communications addresses in the servicing network that can be used to service communications originating in the originating network are identified. The first set of communications addresses and the second set of communications addresses are analyzed. Based on the analyzing, incompatibilities between the first set of communications addresses and the second set of communications addresses that would prevent a communication from one of the first set of communications addresses from reaching the second set of communications addresses are determined. A processor of a computer is used to adapt the intermediating network so that the communication from the first set of communications addresses can be sent to the second set of communications addresses via the intermediating network. The communication from the originating network is received at the intermediating network and the communication is routed through the intermediating network to the servicing network.

A method and apparatus for providing traffic management for distributed denial of service (DDOS) traffic. Within a communications network, a DDOS detection system monitors network traffic to identify traffic that is designed to attack a particular server within the network and their entry points into the network. A traffic routing control unit is requested to deny service to the DDOS traffic. By selectively manipulating the routing information propagated to network edge routers, the traffic that is denied service is limited to mostly DDOS traffic and is routed to a cleaning center or a null address in the most effective fashion.
