A dialysis catheter is provided. A first lumen extends through a first tubular member from a proximal portion to a distal portion, and a first orifice at the distal portion provides an opening through the first tubular member to the first lumen. The first tubular member further includes an inflation lumen extending longitudinally at least partially through a length of the first tubular member. A balloon is operably connected to an outer surface of the first tubular member proximal to the first opening, is in fluid communication with the inflation lumen. A second tubular member has a proximal portion connected to the outer surface of the first tubular member. A distal portion of the second tubular member is connected to the balloon wall. A second lumen extends through the second tubular member, and a second orifice provides an opening through the second tubular member at the distal portion.

A storage cloud enabled platform includes storage nodes and application nodes which are the part of the same operating environment. The storage nodes and computation nodes are interconnected inside platform via an interface to provide improved response time and high bandwidth paths for storage applications. The computation nodes may include virtual or non-virtual machines. The interface may support various protocols depending on desired ease of use and response time. For example, a standardized protocol such as SCSI could be used for ease of use and data safety, or a direct data placement protocol could be used to help maximize response rate.

Cloud capable storage platform with computation operating environment for storage and generic applications

For a data copying operation, data compression using constant number-of-track-groups and a thinly provisioned target device facilitates incremental updates where the size of the compressed data on the target device changes. Compressed data is written to the same LBA as the beginning of the source device chunk cluster LBA (1:1 mapping of data start). A termination string or other demarking device is used to identify space freed on the target device resulting from compression. During an incremental update only changed chunk clusters are changed, and freed space is changed accordingly if necessary.

Data compression using constant number-of-track-groups and thin provisioning clone target

Source and replica data in a storage area network is tracked during management of data encryption keys. Association of source and replica data allows for all copies of customer information in an enterprise to be managed as a single entity for deletion or tracked for management purposes by using referenced data encryption keys upon creation of replicas. Any replica from a source storage object can be created using the source storage object data encryption key or an associated key and tracked by these keys as a subset of the number of replicas created. Management of the data encryption keys can control the lifetime of data on a storage array and in the storage area network without managing every replicated instance for the lifetime of the data.

Tracking replica data using key management

Guaranteeing space availability for thin devices includes reserving space without committing, or fully pre-allocating, the space to specific thin device ranges. Space may be held in reserve for a particular set of thin devices and consumed as needed by those thin devices. The system guards user-critical devices from running out of space, for example due to a 'rogue device' scenario in which one device allocates an excessive amount of space. The system uses a reservation entity, to which a thin device may subscribe, which reserves space for the thin device without allocating that space before it is need to service an I/O request.

Virtual provisioning space reservation

A data processing system stores encrypted data. Object identifiers are assigned to storage objects, and data encryption keys are assigned to the storage objects. When performing an operation upon a storage object, data encryption key failure may occur due to a corrupt or incorrect key. In this case, a copy of the data encryption key is fetched from a key server. It is possible for the association of the object identifiers with the data encryption keys to become lost or confused, so that the key server may fail to provide the correct key for a specified object identifier. Therefore, an absolute key identifier that is unique across the key server namespace also is stored in association with the object identifier in the storage system and in the key store of the key server, and the absolute key identifier is used as a failsafe for recovery of encrypted data.

Encryption key recovery in the event of storage management failure

A system having a plurality of directors, at least some of which have a local director memory, accesses requested data by determining if requested data is in local director memory of a first one of the directors in response to an access request for the requested data by the first one of the directors. The system also determines if the requested data is native to the first one of the directors in response to the requested data not being in the local director memory of the first one of the directors, where data provided on a physical storage device coupled to the first one of the directors is native to the first one of the directors. The system also obtains the requested data from a second one of the directors in response to the requested data not being native to the first one of the directors.

Memory optimization for configuration elasticity in cloud environments

Migrating data from an old storage device to a new storage device includes creating new paths to the new storage device, freezing old paths to the old storage device, transferring metadata corresponding to the old storage device to the new storage device, where state information is transferred from the old storage device to the new storage device, and thawing the new paths. Migrating data from an old storage device to a new storage device may also include creating new volumes on the new storage device and transferring data from the old storage device to the new storage device. Migrating data from an old storage device to a new storage device may also include dismantling the old paths.

Handling hibernation of a process on a storage device

Described are techniques for performing processing in a data storage system. A client application executing on a host is identified as a candidate for migration to the data storage system. First data used by the client application is stored on one or more physical storage devices of the data storage system. The client application is migrated to the data storage system for temporary execution on the data storage system. The client application is executed on the data storage system for a time period using a first portion of resources of the data storage system allocated for exclusive use by migrated client applications executing on the data storage system.

Adaptive integration of cloud data services with a data storage system

By placing an encryption function below a RAID function and requiring independence of encryption functionality along the same boundaries of data member independence of the RAID function, failures of the encryption and key management for individual encryption functions can be recovered with the same data rebuild mechanism as the RAID function. For example, in a RAID set of disk drives, each data partition and each parity partition has a respective data encryption key for storing encrypted data or encrypted parity in the partition, and a LUN or logical volume is mapped to a stripe of data partitions and an associated parity partition across the RAID set so that the data rebuild mechanism of the RAID function may recover from a loss of a single data encryption key without compromising security of the LUN or logical volume.

Migrating data from an old storage device to a new storage device includes transferring the data from a first logical device on the old storage device to a second logical device on the new storage device, determining replication relationships for the first logical device, transferring the replication relationships; and transferring logical devices used for the replication relationships from the old storage device to the new storage device. The replication relationships may include a clone of the first logical device. Migrating data from an old storage device to a new storage device may also include suspending writes to the first logical storage device prior to transferring the data for the first logical storage device. The replication relationships may include at least one snapshot.

Synchronization of data layouts and resource utilizations at one or more remote replica sites with the workload and data tiering decisions being made at the primary site allows for an efficient and effective workload support transfer in the event of site failover from a primary site to a remote site. Relevant data access information about workload being supported at the primary site is collected and from that raw information, characterized data access information is generated that condenses the raw data access information or otherwise provides relevant encapsulated information about the raw data access information. The characterized data access information is transmitted to the one or more remote sites allowing each remote site to make its own independent decisions on how best to utilize its available resources to match the performance requirements currently being supported by the primary site.

Synchronizing performance requirements across multiple storage platforms

A key management server in a storage area network (SAN) provides encryption keys for source and destination storage objects and also associates destination storage objects with source storage objects. When a source object is to be replicated, a replication facility in a storage system of a new destination object requests the key management server to associate the destination object with the source object and assign the data encryption key of the source object or a new data encryption key to the destination object. For recovery of the source object, a replication facility in the storage system of the source object obtains information from the key management server about the replica associated with the source object for replicating data from the destination object back to the source object.
