The present technology is directed to providing enhanced capacity for tenants in a neutral host network (NHN) via multi-connectivity such as dual connectivity or carrier aggregation. The present technology can identify, at a small cell gateway, signaling traffic passing from an access network to a respective core network of an NHN operating at mid-band frequencies and add an interface between the small cell gateway of the NHN and a base station of a tenant network operating at low-band frequencies to establish dual connectivity. Furthermore, the present technology can establish a radio resource control (RRC) connection in a primary cell residing in a macro network operating at low-band frequencies and add, at a fronthaul gateway, one or more secondary cells in a small cell network operating at mid-band frequencies to enable carrier aggregation of the one or more secondary cells with the primary cell the small cell network.

Providing enhanced capacity for tenants in a neutral host network via multi-connectivity

One embodiment is a method and includes receiving at a termination element of a first network a bandwidth report ('BWR'), in which the BWR includes information regarding a data transmission opportunity over a second network for at least one endpoint data; scheduling a first network transmission opportunity for the at least one endpoint data using information derived from the received BWR; and receiving from a first network forwarding device the at least one endpoint data in accordance with the scheduled first network transmission opportunity.

Techniques for wireless access and wireline network integration

Ringing suppression may be provided. First, a first ringing suppressor in a first branch of an amplifier may cancel interference from a second branch of the amplifier using a transmitted signal from the second branch as a reference. The first ringing suppressor may also cancel echo interference from the first branch of the amplifier using an output of the first ringing suppressor in the first branch as a reference. Furthermore, a second ringing suppressor in the second branch of the amplifier may cancel interference from the first branch of the amplifier using a transmitted signal from the first branch as a reference. Furthermore, the second ringing suppressor may cancel echo interference from the second branch of the amplifier using an output of the second ringing suppressor in the second branch as a reference.

Amplifier supporting full duplex (FDX) operations

Echo cancellation in multiple port Full Duplex (FDX) nodes and amplifiers may be provided. First, a plurality of signals may be provided to a cancelation device. Each of the plurality of signals may be configured to provide the cancelation device with a corresponding plurality of configurations. Next, a plurality of effective echo power values respectively corresponding to the plurality of configurations may be received. A one of the plurality of configurations corresponding to a lowest of the plurality of effective echo power values may then be selected. The cancelation device may then be operated at the selected one of the plurality of configurations.

Echo cancellation in multiple port full duplex (FDX) nodes and amplifiers

One embodiment is a method including extending a policy server to provide per subscriber policies to a cable modem (CM) and a cable modem termination system (CMTS), receiving, at the policy server, a request for a policy profile from a cable modem termination system (CMTS), accessing a subscriber database to determine the policy profile, and communicating the policy profile to the CMTS. In an example, the policy server is a packet cable multimedia policy server of a cable network.

Policy architecture for cable networks

Waterfall granting may be provided. First, a plurality of grants may be received for a service flow. Then a first plurality of packets may be placed in a first queue associated with the service flow in response to determining that the first plurality of packets corresponding to the service flow are associated with a first quality of service level. Next, a second plurality of packets may be placed in a second queue associated with the service flow in response to determining that the second plurality of packets corresponding to the service flow are associated with a second quality of service level. The first plurality of packets in the first queue may then be serviced from the plurality of grants until all the first plurality of packets in the first queue are serviced before servicing any of the second plurality of packets in the second queue with remaining ones of the plurality of grants.

Echo cancellation to alleviate timing varying channels may be provided. First, a feedback signal corresponding to one of a plurality of downstream paths and a combination upstream signal comprising a combination of upstream signals from a plurality of upstream paths may be received. Next, a plurality of echo corrected signals may be created using the feedback signal, the combination upstream signal, and a plurality of echo cancelation coefficients that each respectively correspond to each one of the plurality of echo corrected signals and that are different from each other. Then a one of the plurality of echo cancelation coefficients that corresponds to a one of the plurality of echo corrected signals that provides a best echo cancelation performance as compared to other ones of the plurality of echo corrected signals may be selected to use.

Echo cancellation to alleviate timing varying channels

A system to support Time Division Duplex (TDD) Full Duplex (FDX) with a remote Duty Cycle (DS) framer may be provided. The system may comprise a core and a Remote PHY Device (RPD). The core may comprise a Downstream (DS) Quality-of-Service (QoS) scheduler and a DS duty cycle rate regulator. The DS duty cycle rate regulator may comprise a plurality of token buckets and a plurality of data framing queues. The RPD may comprise a plurality of TG queue blocks and switching logic.

Time division duplex (TDD) full duplex (FDX) with a remote duty cycle (DS) framer

A centralized Upstream (US) scheduling system configured to provide a US split scheduler may be provided. The centralized US scheduling system may comprise a US scheduler and a map editor. The US scheduler may be configured to create a map for US bandwidth allocation. The map may include Steady-State Grants (SGNTs) and Editable Grants (EGNTs). The map editor may be configured to receive the map from the US scheduler and to assign the EGNTs among low latency Service Flows (SFs).

Upstream split scheduler

A quality of service framework for applications may be provided. First, a Bandwidth Report (BWR) message may be received from a first sub-system by a second sub-system. The BWR message may correspond to traffic to be received from the first sub-system by the second sub-system. Next, based on the BWR message, the second sub-system may schedule grants for the traffic to be received from the first sub-system. The second sub-system may then receive, from the first sub-system, the traffic. Then the second sub-system may transmit the traffic based on the scheduled grants.

Quality of service framework for applications

An example apparatus for supporting digital pre-distortion (DPD) and full duplex (FDX) in cable network environments is provided and includes a first path for signals being transmitted out of the apparatus, a second path for signals being received into the apparatus, a DPD actuator located on the first path, an amplifier located on the first path, an echo cancellation (EC) actuator located on the second path, and a data interface including a plurality of channels connecting the apparatus to a signal processor. DPD coefficients, EC coefficients and delay parameters are provided over the data interface from the signal processor to the apparatus. The DPD actuator predistorts signals on the first path using the DPD coefficients compensating for distortions introduced by the amplifier, and the EC actuator reduces interferences in signals on the second path using the EC coefficients and the delay parameters, facilitating FDX communication by the apparatus.

System architecture for supporting digital pre-distortion and full duplex in cable network environments

A hybrid active tap may be provided. The hybrid active tap may comprise a first branch and a second branch. The first branch may be disposed between a first diplexer and a second diplexer. The first branch may correspond to a first frequency spectrum. The second branch may be disposed between the first diplexer and the second diplexer. The second branch may correspond to a second frequency spectrum. The hybrid active tap may further comprise a third branch, a fourth branch, a splitter, and an amplification device. The third branch may be disposed between a first coupler and a third diplexer. The first coupler may be coupled to the first branch. The fourth branch may be disposed between a second coupler and the third diplexer. The second coupler may be coupled to the second branch. The splitter may be connected to the third diplexer and the amplification device may be disposed in the first branch.

Hybrid active tap

Radio Frequency (RF) Ethernet trunking may be provided. A networking system may comprise a first data pathway, a second data pathway, and a third data pathway. The first data pathway may be between a headend and a first node and may comprise a fiber optic channel using a first data transport protocol. The second data pathway may be between the first node and a second node and may comprise a first coaxial cable channel using the first data transport protocol over a first radio frequency spectrum. The third data pathway may be between the second node and a third node and may comprise a second coaxial cable channel using the first data transport protocol over the first radio frequency spectrum. The second data pathway and the third data pathway may comprise a data trunk using the first data transport protocol for data to and from the first node.
