A three-dimensional (3D) printing process utilizing an atmospheric plasma to conduct an electromagnetic energy to fuse extruded successive layers of thermoplastic material having a conductive material is disclosed. A 3D printing system for the 3D printing process is also provided. The 3D printing system includes a 3D printer, an extrusion nozzle, a plasma emitter, and an electromagnetic energy source. The 3D printing process includes the steps of extruding a thermoplastic composite with the extrusion nozzle in successive layers to form a 3D part; directing a substantially evenly distributed plasma onto a predetermined location on the 3D part; and emitting an electromagnetic energy through the plasma. The plasma conducts the electromagnetic energy to the predetermined location on the 3D part. The thermoplastic composite includes a conductive material that generates heat by reacting to the electromagnetic energy.

A three-dimensional printing apparatus for manufacturing a three-dimensional object includes a controller comprising a signal generator and a three-dimensional printer. The three-dimensional printer includes a print head, a three-dimensional object carrier, and an electrical field applicator. The electrical field applicator is disposed on an end of the print head. The controller is in communication with the print head, part carrier, and electrical field applicator. The three dimensional printer builds the three-dimensional object onto the three-dimensional object carrier. The signal generator outputs a signal to the electrical field applicator and the electrical field applicator generates an electrical field incident to the three-dimensional object on three-dimensional object carrier.

Disclosed herein is a scanning ladar transmitter that employs an optical field splitter/inverter to improve the gaze characteristics of the ladar transmitter on desirable portions of a scan area. In an energy efficient building, a thermostatic controller receives temperature and humidity input signals indicative of an inside, outside and air mass buffer. According to one or more algorithms, the thermostatic controller controls the operations of various actuators, such as blower speed, a fresh air intake vent damper, an exhaust vent and a heat pump, so as to adjust the internal climate of the energy-efficient building towards a control point (e.g., an inside temperature and humidity comfort level).

A detected image output by a holographic storage system is comprised of a grid of dark and light spots, representing high and low logic states. The image is superimposed onto a grid of detector elements or pixels in a detector. Each of the data bits is represented by a bit image or bixel, which is oversampled by a factor of two along the x- and y-axis by the pixels. A state machine is utilized to generate expected states for each of the pixels and then an energy shifting operation performed to shift energy from a pixel having a higher than expected output value to a pixel having a lower than expected output value. This operation can result in energy being shifted from the left to the right or the right to the left. Column synchronization is performed by defining a set of pixels in a row for each column as a segment with an associated parity bit and row number. Each segment may be output as validated, or may be retained in a buffer until all previous segments in a row have been accumulated and/or output.

A gripping arm (156) is operable to attach to a gripping member (124) on a gripping mechanism (122) attached to the slide (102) to extract the slide (102) and place it into a holder (148). The holder (148) is then operable to receive the slide (102) and dispose it in a holographic storage system. The slide (102) can then be written to by interfering a data beam and a reference beam in a predetermined storage location (54) and then the slide again placed into the jacket (110).
