A valve bridge to operatively interface with a rocker arm and a valve, and systems, assemblies, and methods thereof can comprise: a body, of the valve bridge, having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, a first leg of the valve bridge extending from the first side of the body, a second leg of the valve bridge extending from the first side of the body, and a third leg of the valve bridge extending from the first side of the body. A first pin can extend from an end of the first leg opposite the body, and a second pin can extend from an end of the second leg opposite the body.

Gas admission valve (GAV) assembly and system and method thereof

A valve actuation system for an engine includes a rotatable camshaft, an injector actuation linkage, and a valve actuation linkage. The valve actuation linkage includes a valve lifter, a valve pushrod, and a rocker arm. At least one of a rocker arm center plane defined by the valve rocker arm or a lifter roller center plane defined by the valve lifter is spaced an offset distance from a pushrod axis, providing an increased contact width between an injector roller in the injector actuation linkage and one of a plurality of cam lobes of the camshaft. The valve lifter includes a fork defining a center plane spaced an offset distance from a center axis of the valve lifter. A rocker arm includes a screw bore offset relative to a rocker arm center plane.

Valve actuation system for engine and valve lifter and rocker arm for same

A cam follower assembly includes a cam roller, and a generally cylindrical body having an outer peripheral surface configured to be reciprocally slidable within a bore of an engine component. The cam roller is rotatably mounted on the body and configured to engage with a cam lobe on a camshaft of the engine. The cam lobe is operative to drive the body to a position at which the cam follower assembly causes one of opening of a valve or actuation of a fuel injector of the engine. A groove is formed in the body inset from the outer peripheral surface and extending axially along the outer peripheral surface parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body and aligned with an axial median plane of the cam roller and the cam lobe.

A rocker base is disclosed for use with a valve actuation system. The rocker base may have a housing with a top, a bottom, side walls connecting the top to the bottom, and end walls disposed between the side walls. The rocker base may also have rocker arm supports located inside the housing and integrally formed with the side walls, and an injector spring pad extending from one of the end walls toward a center of the housing. The rocker base may further have a rib connecting the injector spring pad to one of the rocker arm supports.

A bridge assembly is disclosed for use with an internal combustion engine. The bridge assembly may have a valve bridge, a cylindrical housing disposed within the valve bridge, and a plunger disposed in the cylindrical housing and protruding from the valve bridge. The bridge assembly may also have a valve housing, a post located inside the valve housing, a plurality of obliquely angled ports passing through a straight annular wall portion of the valve housing, and a plurality of radially oriented ports passing through a tapered annular wall portion of the housing. The bridge assembly may further have a valve seat disposed at least partially inside the plunger, a ball disposed within the valve housing and movable between a distal end of the post and the valve seat, a first spring disposed over the post, and a second spring disposed within the cylindrical housing.

A valve bridge assembly is disclosed for an internal combustion engine. The assembly may have a valve bridge with a center portion, opposing lateral extensions, a bore passing through first and second ends of the center portion, and an internal annular shelf. The assembly may also have a cylindrical housing with a main portion, a tip portion protruding from the second end of the center portion, and a positioning flange resting on the internal annular shelf. The assembly may further have a plunger with a first end having a larger opening and a second end having a smaller opening. The first end may be disposed within the main portion of the cylindrical housing, and the second end may protrude from the first end of the center portion. The assembly may also have a valve assembly disposed within the larger opening of the plunger, and a spring disposed inside the cylindrical housing.

A valve actuation system is disclosed for an engine. The system may have at least one gas exchange valve, a rocker shaft, a camshaft, a rocker arm connected to the rocker shaft and operatively engaged with the camshaft, a valve bridge engaged with the at least one gas exchanger valve, a lash adjuster disposed in the valve bridge, and a button configured to slide on the valve bridge. The system may further include a pin fluidly connecting the rocker arm to the button and having an elongated cylindrical shaft with a first open end inside the rocker arm and a second end inside the button. The pin may also have a head connected to and a reservoir formed in the elongated cylindrical shaft. The pin may further have passages extending from the bore of the rocker arm to the reservoir, and s passage extending from the reservoir through the head.

Valve actuation system having rocker-located hydraulic reservoir

An intake valve actuation (IVA) system for a dual fuel engine is disclosed. The IVA system is retrofittable between the dual fuel engine and a diesel fuel engine and includes a cam lobe with a cam-profile, a rocker arm, and an IVA piston. The rocker arm has a pad surface, which includes a plane that passes through a central axis of a rocker shaft. The rocker arm is operably connected with the cam lobe and intake valves. A rotational movement of the cam lobe corresponds to switch between the open and closed positions of intake valves. The IVA piston has a face portion, which selectively abuts against the pad surface, to temporarily lock the intake valves in open position. The IVA system defines a hand-off when the face portion abuts against the pad surface. The cam-profile facilitates constant velocity of the intake valves at the hand-off.

Intake valve actuation system for dual fuel engine

A power system for use with an engine having at least one cylinder, and a piston, a fuel injector, and an exhaust valve associated with the at least one cylinder, is disclosed. The power system may have an exhaust passage, an aftertreatment component disposed within the exhaust passage, and a valve actuator configured to selectively move the exhaust valve. The power system may also have a controller in communication with the fuel injector and the valve actuator. The controller may be configured to make a determination to heat the aftertreatment component, to activate the valve actuator to hold open the exhaust valve as the piston moves through a top-dead-center position to disable the at least one cylinder based on the determination, and to activate the fuel injector to inject fuel into the at least one cylinder while the at least one cylinder is disabled.

Power system with cylinder-disabling strategy

A compression brake system of an internal combustion engine includes a mechanical system for coupling a camshaft to a brake actuator assembly. The mechanical system includes a stationary housing defining an aperture and a lifter is slidably disposed in the aperture. A resilient element is disposed between the housing and the shoulder and configured to bias the lifter toward the camshaft. The mechanical system is dedicated to compression braking, and therefore the camshaft may have a lobe optimized for braking.

A variable valve actuation system is disclosed for providing exhaust to at least one component downstream of an engine. The system includes a supply of low pressure fluid, an engine fluid sump, and an exhaust valve disposed in an engine cylinder. The system also includes a hydraulic actuation system operably connected to the exhaust valve of the engine cylinder and a braking control valve operably connected to the hydraulic actuation system. The system further includes a device for accumulating fluid and a device for fluidly coupling the hydraulic actuation system to the accumulating device.

Compression release brake system

A method of calibrating a variable valve actuation system is provided. An engine valve is moved from a first position where the engine valve blocks a flow of fluid to a second position where the engine valve passes a flow of fluid. A valve actuator is actuated to prevent the engine valve from returning to the first position. A signal is transmitted to cause the valve actuator and to allow the engine valve to return to the first position. The return of the engine valve to the first position is determined. A time parameter indicative of an elapsed time between the transmission of the signal and movement of the engine valve to the first position is determined.
