A temperature sensor for monitoring an organ or tissue is configured to measure a temperature inside of a container configured to contain the organ or tissue. The temperature sensor is disposed exterior to the organ container and the temperature sensor is a non-contact temperature sensor. The temperature sensor may be part of an apparatus for perfusing, transporting, and/or storing an organ or tissue. A coolant container may have an aperture through which the temperature sensor measures a temperature of at least one of the organ or tissue or a perfusate fluid surrounding the organ or tissue. The temperature sensor is preferably an infrared temperature sensor. Multiple temperature sensors may be provided that measure the temperature organ or tissue or perfusate fluid surrounding the organ or tissue, for example in case one of the temperature sensors fails.

Temperature sensing in organ preservation apparatus

A method of perfusing an organ or tissue includes perfusing the organ or tissue with a perfusion apparatus; detecting a condition representing at least one of an attitude of the perfusion apparatus or at least one shock experienced by the perfusion apparatus; and altering perfusion based upon the detected condition and/or recording the detected condition.

Organ transporter with tilt and/or shock sensing

An apparatus for separating gas bubbles that may be entrained in perfusate flow prevents such bubbles from continuing downstream and entering an organ or tissue. The apparatus may include a chamber having a top wall, a bottom wall and side walls. The chamber may include an inlet configured to allow at least one of gas and liquid to enter the chamber, an air opening configured to allow at least gas to exit the chamber and a first liquid opening configured to allow at least liquid to exit the chamber. The apparatus may function as an accumulator that reduces or eliminates pulsatility of the liquid flow and pressure. The apparatus may include a minimum volume of gas, initially or through the accumulation of gas, such that flow and pressure fluctuations in the liquid are dampened or eliminated. The apparatus may include a sampling port in a wall of the chamber.

Perfusion apparatus with reduced pressure fluctuations, and bubble trap

An apparatus for perfusing an organ or tissue includes a perfusion circuit configured to perfuse the organ or tissue; at least one shock and/or tilt detector such as an accelerometer; and a controller. The controller may be configured to control perfusion based upon a signal received from the accelerometer, which may include stopping and/or starting the perfusion based upon the signal. The controller may also or alternatively sense and/or record shocks experienced by the apparatus.

An apparatus and method for testing a switch having an actuating plunger, the switch undergoing a switch event in response to the actuation of the actuating plunger includes a switch nest and clamp assembly for holding the switch at a precise and predetermined location and a motor driven plunger actuator for applying force to the plunger thereby to actuate the switch. The switch test station further includes a pressure sensor coupled to the plunger actuator which measures the force being applied to the plunger during switch actuation. An electrical sensor couples to the switch nest and measures the electrical characteristics of the switch while a microcomputer responsive to the pressure sensor and the electrical sensor determines the mechanical displacement of the actuating plunger at a switch event.

Automatic switch test station

A residual tire life prediction system uses a clock to trigger a bang generator that provides pulses of electrical energy to a pulse-echo transducer. The transducer converts pulses of electrical energy to pulses of ultrasonic vibration. The transducer is located on the tread of a steel belted tire to transmit pulses of ultrasonic energy into the tire and to receive reflected ultrasonic energy from plies of the tire casing. The transducer converts the reflected ultrasonic energy to provide bursts of electrical signals. The transducer is connected to a time varying gain control circuit that has its output connected via a full-wave rectifier to a first gate and to an input of a voltage level detector. The clock is also connected to a first time-delay circuit that is operative after a delay, subsequent to the pulse of the bang generator, to enable a second gate, connected to the output of the voltage level detector, that provides a signal, when it receives the signal based on the reflection from the outer steel belt, to a second time-delay circuit that provides an enable signal at its output after a predetermined delay for a predetermined period of time to the first gate to open it for passage of signals from the rectifier to a peak sensing device that provides an output signal to a digital panel meter for display of the value of the maximum amplitude passing through the first gate.
