A tubular mesh implant is provided for fracture fixation. The implant has a rest length between first and second opposite ends, and a central opening defining a rest inner diameter. The diameter of the central opening is reducible over a bone by elongation of the implant and securable to maintain fracture reduction. A method of setting a fractured bone comprises providing the tubular implant having a rest length and a central opening defining a rest inner diameter, introducing the fractured bone through the central opening in the implant, elongating the implant and reducing the inner diameter about the fractured bone, and securing the first and second ends of the implant to the fractured bone.

Bone fracture treatment apparatus and method

A system includes a drill guide and a gauge wire. The drill guide has two arms rotatable relative to each other about a hinge, with each arm including a split portion of a guide. When the arms are in a closed configuration, the split portions come together to form a tubular guide. Because the arms can be opened and closed about the hinge, the guide can be split and removed from over a drill bit or pin without first removing the drill bit from the bone or the drill from the drill bit or pin. Each arm also includes a semicircular form which when the arms are closed defines a gauge wire hole parallel to the guide which is sized to receive a gauge wire. The gauge wire includes depth indicia along its length which is used to indicate the length of a fixation device for use in a procedure.

Drill guide tissue protector

An internal fixation pin comprises first and second portions with threads of different diameters, but having the same pitch and thread depth. The first portion includes a self-tapping tip. No enlarged head portion is provided to the pin at the end opposite the tip. A non-threaded shaft portion is frangibly connected to the second portion and is a mechanism for rotating the pin for threaded insertion into bone. A plurality of circumferentially spaced-apart longitudinal grooves are provided on the second portion adjacent its intersection with the shaft portion. After insertion of the first and second portions across a fracture, the shaft portion is removed. The grooves permit rotation of the pin for removal should removal be necessary. A driver for pin removal is also provided, as well as a mill tool.
