A continuous antenna array includes a plurality of antenna elements whose opposing electrodes create an electric field that excites polarization currents in an enclosed dielectric. Each of the antenna elements comprises one or more stripline feeds configured to provide a flat form factor and apply a signal with controlled phase differences between the plurality of antenna elements.

Continuous antenna arrays

A very low frequency (VLF) antenna includes a metal monopole and a dielectric metamaterial cladding surrounding a periphery of the monopole.

Dielectrically boosted very low frequency antenna

A superluminal antenna element integrates a balun element to better impedance match an input cable or waveguide to a dielectric radiator element, thus preventing stray reflections and consequent undesirable radiation. For example, a dielectric housing material can be used that has a cutout area. A cable can extend into the cutout area. A triangular conductor can function as an impedance transition. An additional cylindrical element functions as a sleeve balun to better impedance match the radiator element to the cable.

Superluminal antenna

Antenna and transceiver for transmitting a secure signal

An antenna may include a volume polarization current radiator and a feed network. The volume polarization current radiator, includes a dielectric solid (such as a dielectric strip), and a plurality of closely-spaced excitation elements (), each excitation element () being configured to induce a volume polarization current distribution in the dielectric solid proximate to the excitation element when a voltage is applied to the excitation element. The feed network is coupled to the volume polarization current radiator. The feed network also includes a plurality of passive power divider elements () and a plurality of passive delay elements (d-d) coupling the first port () and the plurality of second ports (), the plurality of power divider elements () and the plurality of phase delay elements (d-d) being configured such that a radio-frequency signal that is applied to the first port () experiences a progressive change of phase as it is coupled to the plurality of second ports () so as to cause the volume polarization current distribution to propagate along the dielectric solid.

Feed network and electromagnetic radiation source

An apparatus and method for a radiation source involving phase fronts emanating from an accelerated, oscillating polarization current whose distribution pattern moves superluminally (that is, faster than light in vacuo). Theoretical predictions and experimental measurements using an existing prototype superluminal source show that the phase fronts from such a source can be made to be very complex. Consequently, it will be very difficult for an aircraft imaged by such a radiation to detect where this radiation has come from. Moreover, the complexity of the phase fronts makes it almost impossible for electronics on an aircraft to synthesize a rogue reflection. A simple directional antenna and timing system should, on the other hand, be sufficient for the radar operators to locate the aircraft, given knowledge of their own source's speed and modulation pattern.

Apparatus and method for phase fronts based on superluminal polarization current

A quantum coherent switch having a substrate formed from a density wave (DW) material capable of having a periodic electron density modulation or spin density modulation, a dielectric layer formed onto a surface of the substrate that is orthogonal to an intrinsic wave vector of the DW material; and structure for applying an external spatially periodic electrostatic potential over the dielectric layer.
