Surgical constructs, assemblies and methods of tissue fixation are disclosed. A surgical construct includes a spreadable web attached to a plurality of peripheral strands. The spreadable web may be tensionable and may include one or more flexible filaments or strands. At least one of the filaments is coupled to the peripheral strands. The filaments may extend from the peripheral strands in different directions and/or orientations. The spreadable web is expandable and can be adjusted to various widths. The spreadable web may be knotless. The spreadable web may be tensionable. The surgical construct may be attached to one or more knotted or knotless fixation devices.

Surgical constructs for tissue fixation and methods of tissue repairs

A surgical device according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a first laminated layer and a second laminated layer fused to the first laminated layer to construct a body portion. At least one of the first laminated layer and the second laminated layer is constructed of a plurality of laminae that are made from a porous material.

A high strength abrasion resistant surgical suture material with improved tie down characteristics and tissue compliance includes poly(p-phenylene-2,6-benzobisoxazole) (PBO). The suture features a multifilament jacket formed of braided strands of PBO, optionally with fibers of polyester, silk, nylon or aramid strands as an enhancer. In one embodiment, the braided jacket surrounds a core formed of twisted strands of PBO. The suture has exceptional strength, is ideally suited for most orthopedic procedures, and can be attached to a suture anchor or a curved needle.

An apparatus for abrading tissue includes a bearing tube having distal and proximal ends, and a suction port formed distally in a sidewall of the bearing tube. An inner tube disposed within the bearing tube has a distal opening, the distal opening being located proximal of the suction port in the sidewall of the bearing tube. A solid transition region extending distally from the inner tube is disposed distal to the distal opening. An abrading element supported distally by the solid transition region is used to perform orthopedic abrading procedures. The outer diameter of the abrading element is greater than the inner diameter of the bearing tube. Debris generated by abrading procedures is aspirated through the suction port formed in the sidewall of the bearing tube and into the lumen of the inner tube. A hooded sheath extends distally from the bearing tube, or optionally from a sheath tube provided over the bearing tube.
