Methods, apparatus, and systems for cooling optical interconnects using light include monitoring an output power of a transceiver, where the transceiver includes an alkali activated geopolymer (AAGP) coating, and cooling, based on a determination that the output power has decreased below a threshold value, the transceiver by directing infrared light towards the transceiver.

Disclosed embodiments provide methods, systems, and computer program products for implementing enhanced phase power load balancing of a set of systems (e.g., the set of systems of a data center) using a subset of the systems. Disclosed embodiments extract phase currents of a three-phase power source of the set of systems, and determine, based on extracted phase currents for the set of systems, input phase power load balancing for the subset of the systems. Disclosed embodiments alter the current input phase power balancing of the subset, unbalancing the input phase power load for the subset of the systems to provide enhanced phase power load balancing of the set of systems. Altering the current input phase power balancing for the subset of the systems can be implemented by power shifting between power supply units (PSUs), phase rotations, or input phase switching of power distribution unit (PDU) switchable output ports.

System level phase unbalancing to improve overall data center sustainability

A method, computer system, and a computer program product are provided for operating a primary and a backup RAID storage array. A disk drive configuration is loaded into a disk controller in a primary RAID array and a disk controller in a backup RAID array. The disk drive configuration includes a schedule for a sequence of selectively power cycling the disk drives, which is executed by the disk controller in the primary and in the backup RAID arrays. Upon detecting a disk failure, each disk controller executes a recovery procedure according to instructions included in the disk drive configuration. Recovery procedure includes suspending power cycling all disk drives and powering on all intentionally powered off disk drives. Data is copied from the corresponding backup RAID array disk drive to primary RAID array to rebuild the failed drive. The RAID configuration remains in this state until failed disk drive is repaired.

Embodiments herein describe a switchable redundant voltage regulator (referred to herein as a redundant phase) that can be attached to multiple different power domains. Instead of providing a redundant phase for every load or voltage domain in a computing system, the embodiments herein describe sharing redundant phases between voltage domains. Thus, if a primary phase serving any one of the phase fails, the switch can be controlled to connect the redundant phase to the corresponding voltage domain. In this manner, the redundant phase is a shared phase for a plurality of voltage domains.

An apparatus for providing a safety and EMC compliant heat sink. The apparatus includes a heat sink configured to be attached to an internal power plane of a printed circuit board (PCB). The heat sink includes a plurality of fins extending outward from the heat sink. At least one capacitor plate contacting at least a portion of the compliance cage and extending inwards towards the heat sink and interleaving with the plurality of fins is present. A system and method for hardening security within a physical location. At least one cable in the physical location is monitored for errors. In response to detecting an error on the cable a cable fault analysis procedure is performed to determine the location of the fault on the cable. A probability that the fault is caused by a threat actor is calculated based upon the location of the fault on the cable. The probability can be calculated using mixture modules of known nonthreat locations using supervised learning approaches. At least one security protocol at the physical location is implemented in response to the location of the fault having a probability that the fault location is related to a threat actor exceeding a threshold value.

A computer-implemented apparatus and related method control a dynamic phase rotation unit of a power distribution unit (PDU). The method comprises using a processor of a system controller for identifying a PDU group of two or more redundant PDUs, receiving input parameters from an input port of each of the PDUs in the PDU group, and comparing the input parameters from of the PDU group. The method further comprises conditioned upon a determination of the following both being true: 1) the input parameters are within a predefined threshold of similarity; and 2) no uninterruptable power supply (UPS) is present, then, responsive to the determination sending, via a network, a phase rotation command to a phase rotation controller to change the phase rotation switches on at least one of the PDUs in the PDU group. Otherwise, responsive to the determination, not sending the phase rotation command.

A method and system for detecting and stopping a ransomware attack. Prior to any attack hidden security flags are inserted into data that is stored. The data can be unencrypted either because the user does not intend to encrypt the data, the data has yet to be encrypted as part of a normal encryption process or is subject to additional encryption. A request is received to encrypt data using an encryption module. The process determines if the data to be encrypted includes a hidden security flag. If the data includes a hidden security flag a hidden security flag counter is incremented. The encryption is stopped if the value of the hidden security flag counter exceeds a threshold value. A user can be notified of the halting of the encryption process.

An apparatus for a fire suppressant system on a server rack includes an integrated battery feature, a manifold, a conduit, and a control card, where the integrated battery feature includes a plurality of battery cells in an enclosure. A first end of the conduit coupled to a control valve on the manifold and a second end of the conduit coupled to the integrated battery feature. The control card configured to open the control valve on the manifold, where the control valve is configured to release a fire suppressant into the enclosure of the integrated battery feature. In one embodiment, the fire suppressant is contained within a pressurized fire suppressant reservoir mounted on the server rack. In another embodiment, the fire suppressant is a cooling fluid diverted from a radiator cooling unit on the server rack.

An optical cable mismatch error detection and remediation process is provided which includes detecting, by at least one processor, an optical cable mismatch error in a connection path between optical transceivers of a computing network, where the connection path includes one or more optical cables. The detecting includes evaluating operation of an optical transceiver of the connection path. The evaluating includes determining that data on one or more optical lanes of the optical transceiver is lane-mismatched data. Prior to the data center being offline, a computer system alters a current topology of the data store in a network connecting multiple data centers, by copying the data shard to a destination data center that does not contain the data store in the current topology, where, with an altered topology, the RTO is met in an event of the data center being offline.
