A method for incorporating photographic calibration into digital color management having an abstract color transformation profile includes the steps of: (a) generating an optical reproduction from a photographic film containing an image of a target having a plurality of colored and neutral patches; (b) scanning said film in a transmission scanner and generating film image data; (c) transforming the film image data to data in a first profile connection space using the color management system; (d) reading said optical reproduction and generating reproduction image data; (e) transforming the reproduction image data to data in a second profile connection space using a color management system; and (f) computing an abstract profile to transform said data in the first profile connection space to data in the second profile connection space.

Method for including traditional photographic calibration into digital color management

A color photographic film element, including a substrate and a plurality of image capture color photosensitive layers formed over the substrate; and one or more patches formed in the film element by exposure, each color patch including information which permits the mapping of a digitized color image from a developed image captured in the color photosensitive layers to construct a profile usable in modifying the digital image.

Color reproduction of images from color films

A method for including photographic calibration into digital color management having an abstract color transformation profile, the method comprises the steps of measuring a density from a patch of an optically created image; inputting the measured densities to a computer workstation; computing a density to colorimetry matrix that is received by the computer workstation; and interpolating the matrix based on the inputted density for creating the abstract profile for ultimately permitting modification of an image manipulated by the abstract profile.

An method and apparatus for providing a spectrally correct image representation is disclosed. Incoming scene light is divided into a plurality of micro-spectra and imaged onto an electronic image sensor unit by a grating and a light dispersing system. Digital image data produced by the electronic image system represents a spectrally correct image.
