A tube occluder includes a body within which an end of the tube is attached; a twisting lug formed with or attached to the tube, the twisting lug including an outwardly extending shape; and a sleeve in rotational communication with the body, the sleeve including an internal profile that matingly engages the outwardly extending shape of the twisting lug, the sleeve rotatable relative to the body in a first direction such that the internal profile causes the twisting lug to twist the tube closed, the sleeve rotatable in a second direction such that the internal profile causes the twisting lug to twist the tube open. A tube occluding method includes enabling a user to rotate the sleeve relative to the body, causing the internal profile to turn the twisting lug and to twist the tube closed while the end of the tube remains secured within the body.

An intraperitoneal pressure ('IPP') measurement apparatus is disclosed herein. In an example, the IPP measurement apparatus includes a transfer set or catheter that is fluidly coupled to a patient's peritoneal cavity and a pressure sensor adapted to contact the transfer set or catheter. The pressure sensor is configured to transmit output data indicative of an IPP within the patient's peritoneal cavity. The pressure sensor includes a pressure element configured to measure a pressure imparted by a fluid within the transfer set or catheter. The pressure sensor also includes a pressure amplifier having a first side that contacts a portion of the transfer set or catheter and a second side that contacts the pressure element. The first side has a greater diameter or surface area compared to the second side for amplifying the pressure signal for the IPP measurement.

A medical fluid treatment system includes a source of purified water; at least one concentrate for mixing with the water from the source to form a treatment fluid; a disposable set including a pumping portion, a concentrate line in fluid communication with the concentrate source and the pumping portion, and a patient line in fluid communication with the pumping portion, the patient line including a filter having a membrane configured to filter the treatment fluid, the filter configured such that (i) fresh treatment fluid flowing from the pumping portion towards a patient flows through the membrane and (ii) used treatment fluid flowing through the filter from the patient to the pumping portion bypasses the membrane; and a medical fluid delivery machine including a pump actuator operable with the pumping portion of the disposable set.

A peritoneal dialysis system includes a cycler including a pump actuator, a heater and a heating pan operable with the heater, and a disposable set operable with the cycler. The heating pan includes a sidewall forming a slot. The disposable set includes a pumping cassette and a heater/mixing container. The pumping cassette includes a pump chamber configured to be actuated by the pump actuator. Additionally, the heater/mixing container is in fluid communication with the pumping cassette and is sized to be received at the heating pan. The heater/mixing container includes a port configured such that when the port is slid into the slot of the heater pan sidewall, the port is prevented from rotating about an axis transverse to a direction of flow through the port.

A medical fluid delivery system includes a source of purified water; a source of concentrate for mixing with water from the water source; a disposable set including a pumping portion, a water line in fluid communication with the source of purified water and the pumping portion, the water line including a filter for filtering the water, a concentrate line in fluid communication with the concentrate source and the pumping portion, and a heater/mixing container in fluid communication with the pumping portion; a medical fluid delivery machine including, a pump actuator operable with the pumping portion of the disposable set, and a heater/mixing pan configured to support the heater/mixing container; and at least one leveling foot positioned and arranged to enable the heater/mixing pan to be oriented in a desired position for mixing the concentrate and purified water. A leveling tray and leveling foot are provided additionally.

A method and system for handling hazardous materials contained in a vial includes an isolation enclosure having an opening selectively sealable about the vial, a bag body portion, and a cap portion. A latching extraction element is attached to the cap portion and has a preceding engaging member to secure the vial to the isolation enclosure, an extraction member to be inserted into the vial and remove material therefrom, and a primary engaging member to secure the vial to the extraction member. A valve is mounted outside the isolation enclosure and controls the flow of fluid from the vial. An adaptor having a reseal member permits flow when coupled to the valve and restricts flow when uncoupled from the valve. Once uncoupled, the adaptor is removably associated with a second valve located remotely from the isolation enclosure, allowing fluid to pass into the second valve.

Hazardous material handling system and method

An injector device for a pharmaceutical cartridge. The injector device includes a body defining a space for receiving a pharmaceutical cartridge. One or more retention members are disposed on an outer surface of the body. The injector device further includes a plunger rod having a connection member constructed for connection to a piston associated with a cartridge. The plunger rod has one or more receiving members constructed to cooperatively retain the plunger rod on the body in a first position, and to release the plunger rod from the body when the plunger rod is moved to a second position. The plunger rod further includes a surface for engaging a pharmaceutical cartridge positioned within the body of said injector and for moving a pharmaceutical cartridge distally as the plunger rod is moved from its first position to its second position, thereby activating the cartridge.

Injection device and method of assembly and activation

A cap assembly for a container has a hollow housing with an upper end that receives a fluid transfer device and a lower end that engages a stopper on the container. The housing has an internal cavity open at the upper and lower ends and a radially outwardly extending portion at the lower end. A penetrator is received in the internal cavity. The penetrator has a pointed distal end opposite the stopper and an upper end constructed to be engaged by a fluid transfer device. A cap is constructed the hollow housing. The cap has a closed upper end, an open lower end, a radially outwardly extending portion at the open end, and a circumferential line of weakness connecting the upper and lower ends. A ferrule is over the radially outwardly extending portion of the hollow housing and the radially outwardly extending portion of the cap.

A penetrator for penetrating a stopper sealing an opening in a container. The penetrator includes a stamped piece of sheet material formed to define a shank having a length. A groove extends along the length of the shank. The shank has a pointed distal. The stamped piece of sheet material further includes a bearing plate extending from the shank at a proximal end opposite the distal end of the shank.
