The method includes extracting an ON clock signal from an outgoing signal transmitted from the overlay network. The AN clock is synchronized to the ON clock based on the extracted ON clock signal.

A radio frequency (RF) coverage server for use in a wireless network comprising base stations that communicate with mobile stations located in a coverage area of the wireless network. The RF coverage server identifies areas of good RF coverage and areas of poor RF coverage in the wireless network. The RF coverage server also identifies a first one of the mobile stations that frequently drops communication links to the wireless network when the first mobile station is disposed in the good RF coverage areas.

A variable bandwidth controller for use in a wireless network comprising base stations capable of operating on N carriers. The variable bandwidth controller determines a receiver capability of a first mobile station and, in response to the determination, assigns the first mobile station to operate on at least a first carrier and a second carrier. The variable bandwidth controller determines the receiver capability of the first mobile station based on a message received from the first mobile station. There is disclosed a system and method wherein signals generated by a mobile station and received at multiple base transceiver stations (BTSs), are combined utilizing signal processing techniques. Signals received at non-target BTSs are directed, by each non-target BTS, to a target BTS where a combiner is utilized to assemble the received signals (bits) into a packet, or frame, and to determine if an error condition exists.
