A movable conveyor (10) comprising a platform (24) for carrying a soccer field (12) or the like, and pairs of sled assemblies (26). Each sled assembly (26) includes a shoe (42), a pair of linear hydraulic motors or actuators (60, 62), a plastic bearing (79), and an expandable air bag (83). Air bag (83) inflates to raise platform (24), while actuators (60, 62) operate to move platform (24) along shoe (42). With air bag (83) deflated, platform (24) rests on a foot support (38). This allows actuators (60, 62) to reposition shoe 42 to a forward position, to again raise and move platform (24).

Movable conveyor

An on/off, protective circuit has a pressure line with an inlet for connection to a pressure source and an outlet for connection to the pressure port of a hydraulic system, such as a reciprocating conveyor. A relief valve is spring biased into a closed position and openable by pressure in the pressure line to short circuit pressure from the pressure line to a return line when an on/off valve is in an off position. The spring biasing of the relief valve causes residual pressure in the pressure line. To prevent communication of the residual pressure out through the pressure outlet and into the hydraulic system and thereby prevent creeping movement in the system, a check valve is provided in the pressure line downstream of the relief valve. The check valve has a valve plug positioned to be closed by pressure in the pressure line. The check valve also has a pilot chamber which is supplied with pressure when the on/off valve is in an on position to open the check valve and allow pressure to be supplied to the hydraulic system. When the on/off valve is in its off position, the pilot chamber of the check valve is connected to return to allow the residual pressure in the pressure line and a biasing spring to maintain the check valve closed.

On/off circuit for a hydraulic system

A portable shelter which is very easily carried, unfolded, assembled, disassembled and folded, and which, in the unfolded configuration, forms a sled for transporting items. The shelter is composed of a lower wall component and an upper wall component, each of which being constructed of a light, rigid material such as corrugated plastic or paper. The lower wall component is nested within the upper wall component, and both wall components have a plurality of fold locations so that they are mutually foldable into a rectangular shape suitable for use as a sled. A lid component is also foldable so as to be placeable within the folds of the two wall components. In operation, a user simultaneously unfolds the upper and lower wall components so as to provide an area for occupation therewithin. Then the user grabs the upper wall component and raises it in relation to the lower wall component until tabs on the bottom edge of the upper wall component interlock onto the top edge of the lower wall component. The lid component is then unfolded, formed, and placed upon the top edge of the upper wall component.

Folding and telescoping sports shelter

A single mode optical fiber connector assembly for reducing the need for both positional and angular accuracy is provided. A housing and two single mode optical plugs each containing an optical fiber therein are provided. The housing, is adapted to receive a plug in each end of the housing and is dimensioned to automatically secure the plugs in both positional and angular alignment.

Single mode connector

An optical fiber connector has a housing including an axially extending passage with an exterior opening of first diameter and an interior opening of second diameter less than the first diameter and a frustro-conical wall bounding the passage and extending between the exterior and interior openings. The wall has an axial slot extending therethrough of axial extent equal to or less than the passage and extending axially across the interior opening. A separate biasing member may be included. The housing is thus equipped with selective radial expansibility for facilitating seating therein of an optical fiber plug having a frustro-conical exterior surface and an optical fiber centrally interiorly thereof.

Termination of optical fibers

An optical fiber assembly adapted for diminished back reflection along the fiber longitudinal axis includes a housing having a passage between end openings for residence of an opticle fiber. The passage is inclined with respect to an output energy axis and the fiber has its end face intersected by the output axis and prepared at an acute angle with respect to its longitudinal axis.

Method and apparatus for effecting light energy transmission with

A hermaphrodite optical fiber connector includes a housing containing a plurality of inner rods and a plurality of outer rods. The inner rods are held in tangential contact with each other forming an aperture for receiving a fiber. An end of the fiber held in the aperture and ends of the inner rods terminate in a planar surface perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the fiber. The outer rods are secured between the inner rods and the housing and extend past the planar surface, protecting the end of the fiber from damage.

Hermaphrodite optical fiber connector

A bipolar electrical signal of the type transmitted in the T1 digital transmission system is converted into an optical binary signal having pulses and spaces by translating each positive digital '1' in the bipolar signal into two digital pulses, each negative digital 1 in the bipolar signal into two spaces, and the digital 0 in the binary signal into an optical pulse followed by a space. The nonpermitted code of a space followed by an optical pulse is utilized at the receiving location for instantaneous framing. As a result of this particular code conversion, the balanced property of the bipolar input signal is maintained in the optical signal thereby preventing an offset bias from developing at the receiving location in the photodetector. In addition, the bipolar information is maintained in transmission, thus making the optical system 'transparent' to bipolar signals.
