A photoconductor containing an optional supporting substrate, a photogenerating layer thereover, and at least one charge transport layer, and wherein the photogenerating layer contains a chelating agent, and a Type V titanyl phthalocyanine prepared, for example, by dissolving a Type I titanyl phthalocyanine in a solution comprising a trihaloacetic acid and an alkylene halide; adding the mixture comprising the dissolved Type I titanyl phthalocyanine to a solution comprising an alcohol and an alkylene halide thereby precipitating a Type Y titanyl phthalocyanine; and treating the Type Y titanyl phthalocyanine with a monohalobenzene.

Titanyl phthalocyanine photoconductors

The presently disclosed embodiments relate in general to electrophotographic imaging members, such as layered photoreceptor structures, and processes for making and using the same. More particularly, the embodiments pertain to a photoreceptor undercoat layer that includes titanium oxide with untreated surface to improve image quality.

The presently disclosed embodiments relate in general to electrophotographic imaging members, such as layered photoreceptor structures, and processes for making and using the same. More particularly, the embodiments pertain to a photoreceptor undercoat layer that includes a metal oxide having a moisture content of less than 5 percent by weight of the total weight of the metal oxide, as well as, polyol and aminoplast resins, to improve image quality.

Imaging members

An electrophotographic imaging member having a thermoplastic charge transport layer comprising a charge transport compound, a polycarbonate polymer binder, a particulate dispersion, and a high boiler compatible organic liquid. The disclosed charge transport layer exhibits enhanced wear resistance, excellent photoelectrical properties, and good print quality.

A method includes pre-milling a pigment by dry ball milling the pigment with crushed CO(s), reducing the size of particles of the pigment by milling the pigment with glass beads, measuring a size of the particles of the pigment, determining whether that size of the particles is acceptable and coating the imaging member with the pigment if it is determined that the size of the particles is acceptable. A system includes a mill, a measuring device, a coating device and a controller that controls the mill to dry ball mill a pigment with crushed CO, and then controls the mill to reduce the size of the pigment by milling the pigment with glass beads. The controller controls the measuring device to measure a size of the particles of the pigment to determine whether the size of the particles is acceptable. The imaging member is then coated with the solution.

Imaging systems and method that form a layer on an imaging member

A member including for example, a substrate, a charge blocking layer, an optional adhesive layer, a charge generating layer comprising particles comprising a photogenerating layer of for example, chlorogallium phthalocyanine dispersed in a matrix comprising a charge transport molecule, an electron transport molecule which functions to sensitize the chlorogallium phthalocyanine pigment in the charge generating layer and mixtures thereof, and a film forming binder.

A photoconductive imaging member with linear and proportional collection efficiencies and substantially constant photoinduced characteristics comprised of a supporting substrate, and thereover in, for example, certain weight ratios, a single layer comprised of a mixture of a photogenerator component, a charge transport component, an electron transport component, and a polymer binder, and wherein the photogenerating component is a pigment.

A process for preparing a charge generating layer comprising dispersing photoconductive phthalocyanine particles in a polymer matrix, the matrix comprising a polymeric film-forming reaction product of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, maleic acid, and hydroxyalkyl acrylate, in a solution of n-butyl acetate and methyl isobutyl ketone. An electrophotographic imaging member is also prepared comprising a charge generating layer prepared according to this process.

A non-halogenated binder material, such as for an electrophotographic imaging member binder, includes a copolymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl acid.

Non-halogenated polymeric binder

Methods for preparing phthalocyanine co-crystals are provided. The phthalocyanine co-crystals include titanyl phthalocyanines and metal free phthalocyanines.

Photoreceptors

An electrographic or electrostatographic imaging member comprises a supporting substrate, an undercoating layer, a charge generating layer, and a charge transport layer. Thick undercoating layers were prepared with a charge erase enabler by doping an undercoating layer with a charge generating pigment that is strongly absorbing at typical erase lamp light. Doped thick undercoating layers demonstrate good electrical properties with an erase energy reduction of at least 50 V. A process for fabricating an imaging member and an apparatus comprising such an member are also disclosed.

A photoconductive imaging member including a supporting substrate, a hole blocking layer thereover, a crosslinked photogenerating layer and a charge transport layer, and wherein the photogenerating layer includes a photogenerating component and a vinyl chloride, allyl glycidyl ether, hydroxy containing polymer.

A member including for example, a supporting layer and a single photogenerating layer, the photogenerating layer comprising particles including hydroxygallium phthalocyanine phthalocyanine Type V, x polymorph metal free phthalocyanine, or chlorogallium phthalocyanine dispersed in a matrix comprising an arylamine hole transporter and an electron transporter selected from the group consisting of N,N&prime;bis(1,2-dimethylpropyl)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic diimide, 1,1&prime;-dioxo-2-(4-methylphenyl)-6-phenyl-4-(dicyanomethylidene)thiopyran, and a quinone selected from the group consisting of carboxybenzylhaphthaquinone, and tetra (t-butyl) diphenoquinone, and mixtures thereof, and a film forming binder.
