An easy opening end closure for a container in which the end closure includes a panel having a pre-cut pour opening. The pour opening is sealed by a plastic closure having a portion permanently bonded to the underside of the end. A remaining portion is releasably adhered to the underside so that upon downward pressure on the closure, it is released and hinges about the permanently bonded portion. A tongue integral with the panel projects into the opening along the edge along which the flap hinges and is permanently bonded thereto.

Easy opening container with retained closure

A multiple-motion easy-open closure for a can which has two rivets on the end panel, one rivet pivotably connecting a tab to the end panel and functioning to aid in cracking the score and the second rivet anchoring the tab to the end panel. The tab has a slot flanked by ribs and must be rotated until the second rivet, which extends through the slot has its head in alignment with a circular opening in the slot through which the tab may be lifted to rupture the score. The ribs are positioned tangentially to the arc of pivot of the tab and must be laterally deflected and assume an arcuate contour concentric with the pivot arc to accommodate passage of the second rivet between locked and unlocked positions.

Closure with a slotted pull tab

An easy opening closure for a container in which the end panel is formed with a pre-cut opening. A plastic tab having a closure portion is pivotally secured to the panel for turning between a position overlying said opening to seal the same and a position away from the opening. The tab includes a finger grip portion encompassing the closure portion.

Non-detachable and reclosable easy opening container closure structure

A standard easy-open closure is converted to a child-resistant safety closure by the addition of an insert which is mounted on the rivet between the end panel and the tab. The insert extends beneath the piercing member and prevents cracking of the end panel score. The tab must be depressed, thereby allowing the insert to be rotated from beneath the piercing member, before the closure may be removed. These two additional operations, which must be performed in proper sequence, render removal of the closure beyond the capability of the young child.
