A TETS having an external controller having a power source, a transmission coil in communication with the external controller, a receiving coil configured for transcutaneous inductive communication with the transmission coil, and an implantable controller in communication with the receiving coil and an implantable blood pump. The implantable controller has a battery configured to receive power from the receiving coil and the external controller is configured to categorize power transfer states based on predetermined thresholds of efficiency and power demand, and user display states (associated with optional configurable notifications) based on the power transfer states and predetermined temperature thresholds of the transmission coil.

TETS coil alignment conditions algorithm

An apparatus for starting operation of a motor of an implantable blood pump including a memory storing one or more default parameters for at least one of controlling and monitoring the startup operation. A processor operatively coupled to the motor is included, the processor is configured to: commence the startup operation based on the one or more default parameters; detect an error during the startup operation; adjust at least one of the one or more default parameters in response to the detected error; store the at least one adjusted parameter in the memory; and commence subsequent startup operations based at least in part on the at least one adjusted parameter.

Pump motor control with adaptive startup

The present disclosure relates to an improved transcutaneous energy transfer (TET) system that generates and wirelessly transmits a sufficient amount of energy to power one or more implanted devices, including a heart pump, while maintaining the system's efficiency, safety, and overall convenience of use. The disclosure further relates one or more methods of operation for the improved system.

Transcutaneous energy transfer systems

An automated method for evaluating completeness of clinical data being transferred from a clinical device. The clinical data includes continuously logged data, intermittently logged data, and timestamp data associated with each of the continuously logged data and intermittently logged data. The method is executed by a processor and includes receiving the clinical data from the clinical device and based on the timestamp data associated with the continuously logged data, determining a time span over which the continuously logged data was obtained. The timestamp data associated with the intermittently logged data is compared with the determined time span. If any timestamp data associated with the intermittently logged data does not occur within the determined time span, an alert is issued indicating that the continuously logged data of the clinical data is incomplete.

A control circuit for controlling a supply of power to an external electronics module for controlling an implanted device of the user, the control circuit electrically coupled to a switching circuit for controlling an electrical connection between an external power source, a battery, and an external electronics module, the control circuit further electrically coupled to a sensor for sensing at least one from the group consisting of a voltage and a current received from the external power source, the control circuit being configured to control the switching circuit to electrically disconnect the external electronics module from the external power source and electrically connect the external electronics module to the battery in response to a sensed fluctuation of at least one from the group consisting of voltage and current and electrically connect the external electronics module to the external power source and electrically disconnect the external electronics module from the battery when the fluctuation is not sensed.

A method, device, and system for collecting data from one or more sensors in an intermediate power supply (IPS) between a main power source and a control system of a medical system, and transmitting data to the control system. Data received by the control system may include information about the operating parameters of the IPS and may be displayed or communicated to the user, allowing the user to adjust operation of the IPS and/or the medical system in response thereto. In one embodiment, a medical system comprises a clinical device, a control system in electrical communication with the clinical device, and an IPS in electrical communication with the control system, the IPS being configured to be in electrical communication with a main power source. The IPS includes a sensing and communication system having at least one sensor and processing circuitry in communication with the at least one sensor.

A method of controlling an implantable blood pump of a living patient. The method includes receiving one or more pump signals indicating at least one from the group consisting of a motor speed of the blood pump, power supplied to the blood pump, and differential pressure exerted by the blood pump. One or more medication signals is received indicating whether the patient has taken a medication. The flow rate of blood based on a combination of the one or more pump signals and the medication signals is determined. At least one from the group consisting of increasing and decreasing power is supplied to the pump in response to the determined flow rate.

Patient behavior sensitive controller

The present disclosure relates to a module for relaying power wirelessly to a device implanted in a user. The module may include a structure adapted to be worn by the user, a receiver configured to receive a first wireless power transmission at a first frequency, a transmitter configured to transmit a second wireless power transmission at a second frequency different from the first frequency, and a frequency changer configured to convert energy generated by the first wireless power transmission into energy for generating the second wireless power transmission. Each of the receiver, transmitter and frequency changer may be disposed on or in the structure.

Multiband wireless power system

A control circuit for monitoring operation of an implantable blood pump, the control circuit operatively couplable to a testing apparatus for simulating blood pump operating conditions and testing the control circuit based on the simulated blood pump operating conditions. The control circuit includes an input module for receiving at least one of one of actual operating data from an implantable blood pump and simulated operating data from the testing apparatus. A processor for processing the received operating data is included, the processor configured to determine a source of the received operating data, and to determine whether the received operating data is actual operating data or simulated operating data based on the determined source.
