Arranging computational sub-tasks in a hybrid-computing environment is provided. The method comprises receiving input of a number of nodes, wherein each node represents a computational sub-task, and wherein the nodes are grouped into different sets according to differing computing resources used by the nodes. A computational objective is also received as well as initial data inputs and desired final outputs. A directed graph network is generated comprising the nodes and directed edges connecting the nodes. An optimization problem is then solved to determine a best path through the directed graph network for deriving the desired final outputs from the initial data inputs according to the computational objective. The best path comprises a subset of nodes and directed edges within the directed graph network. The best path to achieve the computational objective and estimated computational resources required for the best path are output to a user.

Hybrid-computing resource optimization

A method, apparatus, and system include a cooling system comprising a payload refrigeration unit, control refrigeration unit, and a signal interface. The payload refrigeration unit has a set of payload cooling components that operate to cool a payload. The control refrigeration unit has a set of control circuit cooling components in a control circuit. The signal interface connecting the payload is located in the payload refrigeration unit in the control circuit located in the control refrigeration unit.

Cryogenic cooling system

A method of minimizing a cost function of a quantum computation is provided. The method comprises receiving input of an initial state of a quantum problem instance comprising a Hamiltonian with an associated cost function. The Hamiltonian is converted into a number of Pauli strings, which are used to form an operator pool. The Pauli strings in the operator pool are ranked according to how much they lower a value of the cost function with respect to the initial state. Pauli strings are iteratively added from the operator pool to a parameterized quantum circuit, in a manner to minimize circuit depth, until a variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) algorithm converges to an approximate ground state wave function generated by the parameterized quantum circuit.

Reducing resources in quantum circuits

Chip technology for fabricating ultra-low-noise, high-stability optical devices for use in an optical atomic clock system. The proposed chip technology uses diamond material to form stabilized lasers, frequency references, and passive laser cavity structures. By utilizing the exceptional thermal conductivity of diamond and other optical and dielectric properties, a specific temperature range of operation is proposed that allows significant reduction of the total energy required to generate and maintain an ultra-stable laser. In each configuration, the diamond-based chip is cooled by a cryogenic cooler containing liquid nitrogen.

Diamond-based high-stability optical devices for precision frequency and time generation

Ignition-quenching covers are configured to quench an ignition event in a combustible environment triggered by an ignition source associated with an ignition-risk structure. Ignition-quenching covers comprise a porous body that includes two or more porous elements and are configured to cover the ignition-risk structure, wherein the ignition-risk structure is associated with a potential ignition source that may produce the ignition event in the combustible environment. The porous body defines passages sized to quench the ignition event. Methods comprise installing a porous ignition-quenching cover over an ignition-risk structure to prevent bulk combustion, e.g., of a fuel vapor in a fuel tank, due to an ignition event associated with the ignition-risk structure.

The optical detection method includes directing an optical beam toward a target; selecting a first test sensor from among a plurality of test sensors to compare with radiation received from the target, wherein the first test sensor comprises a first test chemical; receiving a reflected or scattered optical beam from the target; comparing a first spectrum from the first test chemical with a spectrum of the reflected or scattered optical beam that was received using a linear detector array; determining a likely chemical from the target based on the comparing using a hardware processor; and providing an output based on the determining.

A dry bay sealing assembly is provided that includes a first end plate and a second end plate that are configured to be disposed on respective opposite first and second sides of a structural member proximate to a joint defined between the structural member and a fitting. Ignition-quenching systems comprise an ignition-quenching cover configured to quench an ignition event in a combustible environment triggered by an ignition source associated with a fastener stack. The ignition-quenching cover comprises a porous body that is gas permeable and that has pores sized to quench ignition in the combustible environment. The ignition-quenching cover further comprises a cover attachment feature configured to mate with a fastener attachment feature of the fastener stack. The ignition-quenching cover is configured to cover the fastener stack, which may be associated with a potential ignition source that produces an ignition event in the combustible environment. The porous body may include one or more porous elements that may be formed of various polymeric, mesh, or fabric materials. The ignition-quenching cover may comprise a non-porous frame that is bonded to the porous body and that defines the cover attachment feature.
