A vehicle includes a pair of wheel-mounting spindles respectively mounted to a pair of vertically swingable wheel support arms for being steered about respective king pin axes. During assembly of the vehicle on an assembly line, right- and left-hand laser toe gauges are mounted to the spindle shafts in a defined orientation wherein target surfaces of the gauges lie along a respective king pin axis. Length-adjustable tie-rods are coupled to the spindles and adjustable in order that a laser beam emitted from one toe gauge impinges on the target of the other toe gauge when the toe-in is within a prescribed range for resulting in steering and tire wear characteristics. The toe gauges are constructed such that the laser beam direction may be adjusted to calibrate the toe gauge for the particular vehicle being assembled.

Vehicle wheel toe-in alignment apparatus and method

Formed steel channel members mounted horizontally on vertical rods to the back of a drafting reference table. Two channel members are vertically adjustable to allow drawings, layouts and the like of different dimensions to be conveniently located and supported, and a third channel member serves to prevent material from slipping off the back of the table.

Drafting table attachment

A regenerative valve includes a housing having a valve bore therein intersecting with an extension passage interconnecting a pump and a piston extension chamber, a retraction passage interconnecting a sump and a piston retraction chamber, and a regenerative passage for communicating fluid from the retraction to the extension chamber upon extension of the piston. A poppet member is movable in the bore to open and block fluid flow through the extension passage. A shuttle member is movable in the bore to either open or block one or the other of the regenerative and retraction passages. The shuttle member engages the poppet to cause the poppet to open the extension passage when the shuttle moves to close the retraction passage and open the regenerative passage.

Regenerative valve

A depth control system for a disk tiller or similar groundworking implement having a gang of tillage tools adjustably supported from a main frame. A trailing support arm is rigidly connected to the gang and pivotally carries a gauge wheel spring-biased into engagement with the tilled soil. As the depth of the tools varies with changing conditions, the support arm moves and the gauge wheel pivots with respect to the arm to rotate a first lever. The first lever is operably connected to a second lever by a pair of pretensioned springs. Movement of the second lever moves a switch activating arm which activates one of a pair of microswitches. The microswitches control solenoid valves to operate a depth control cylinder for the gang and maintain the desired depth of cut. The switch activating arm is dampened by a dashpot which, together with the springs, prevents switch activation during short periods of oscillation.

Agricultural implement and depth control therefor

A device for engaging and disengaging a power shaft and driven elements of a forage wagon or similar tractor drawn implement. A split sheave clutch having a driving face connected to the power shaft and a driven face connected to the driven elements is engaged by tightening a V-belt between the faces. The belt tightening mechanism includes an idler pulley shiftable to and from a belt tightening position and a latching mechanism releasably securing the pulley in the belt tightening position. A latch control member connected to a safety bar extending across the front of the wagon releases the latching mechanism to disengage all the driven elements when the operator either pushes or pulls the safety bar. The driven elements can be re-engaged with the power shaft by shifting the pulley to the belt tightening position without need for the operator to first return to the tractor to stop the power shaft.
