Various embodiments of a system for the removal of particulate emissions from an electric generating unit are provided, comprising: a gas producer; a primary particulate collector unit including: a primary collection hopper field each including at least one primary collection hopper, wherein each primary collection hopper includes a primary collection hopper outlet, each primary collection hopper outlet fluidically connected to a particulate discharge duct; a flue duct inlet oriented upstream of the at least one primary collection hopper field; a flue duct outlet oriented downstream of the primary collection hopper field; wherein the gas producer is fluidically connected to the primary particulate collector unit by a flue duct; and a particulate recirculation duct fluidically connected at a first end to the primary collection hopper and/or the particulate discharge duct, and fluidically connected at a second end to the flue duct upstream of the primary particulate collector unit.

Sorbent utilization improvement by selective ash recirculation from a particulate collector

A method and device for using the density control water to continuously flush the oxidation air header and the sparge pipes in a flue gas wet scrubber agitation tank. The density control line is routed to the elevation where the control valve is located. A U-shaped trap is located between the control valve and air sparge header such that the density control water joins the humidified oxidation air. A liquid layer forms on the floor of the header and is moved toward the distant side of the header by the motion of the air passing on top of the liquid layer and by the continuous flow of water. The bottom section of the main header is perforated to allow the flowing water to exit the header into the tank and flush any accumulated solids that might penetrate the header through the air holes. The air holes are located in a section at a minimum of five degrees off the floor and maximum of one hundred eighty degrees off the header bottom and preferably at forty-five degrees. The distant end of the header has an opening located close to the header floor to provide an outlet for the flushed solids and prevents the formation of back waves in the header.

Apparatus for air sparged slurry tanks

A dual-fluid low pressure drop atomizer utilizes extended wear life material and comprises a nozzle head having a chamber therein for receiving a mixture of a first compressible fluid and a second fluid containing solids. The nozzle head also has an orifice therein communicating with and adjacent to the mix chamber for discharging jets of the mixture. The orifice and the mix chamber form an approximate right angle therebetween. An inner barrel is connected to the nozzle head at the mix chamber and supplies the first fluid to the nozzle head. An outer barrel is arranged around the inner barrel creating an annulus therebetween and is also connected to the nozzle head for supplying the second fluid to the nozzle head. Wear resistant material provided in the mix chamber reduces erosion within the atomizer head. A plurality of ports are provided in the nozzle head and communicate with the orifice for discharging a jet at a multiplicity of locations.
