A multifunctional organosilicon compound is provided which has the general formula XSi([OSiR]p-0-SiRY)a(R)— ln the formula, X is selected from H and ethylenically un saturated moieties; each Y independently comprises a functional moiety selected from alkoxysilyl moieties, acryloxy moieties, and epoxide moieties; each R is an independently selected hydrocarbyl group; each R1 is an independently selected hydrocarbyl group; subscript a is 1, 2, or 3; and each subscript b is independently 0, 1, or 2. A method of preparing the multifunctional organosilicon compound is also provided. The method comprises reacting (A) an organosilanol compound and (B) a silane compound having at least two hydrolysable groups. A functionalized siloxane compound prepared from the multifunctional organosilicon compound, a method of preparing the functionalized siloxane compound, and an adhesive comprising the functionalized siloxane compound are also provided.

Branched organosilanol compounds and methods for the preparation and use thereof

A method of preparing an organosilanol compound is disclosed. The method comprises reacting (A) an initial organosilicon compound and (B) water in the presence of (C) a catalyst. The catalyst (C) is selected from: (C1) [(CHirCl][(p-cymene)RuCl]; and (C3) Pd/C. The initial organosilicon compound (A) has the general formula HO—Si(R)—[Si(R)O]—OSi(R)—Y and the organosilanol compound has the general formula HO—Si(R)2-[Si(R)O]—OSi(R)—Y, where each R is an independently selected hydrocarbyl group; Y comprises a functional moiety selected from alkoxysilyl moieties, epoxide moieties, and acryloxy moieties, with the proviso that Y is other than the acryloxy moieties when the catalyst (C) is (C3) Pd/C; and subscript a is 0 or 1. The organosilanol compound prepared by the method is also provided.

Method of preparing functional organosilanol compounds

This disclosure provides a method of preparing a silanol-functional organosilicon compound with a cytochrome P450 variant that facilitates the oxidization of a silyl hydride group to a silanol group in the presence of oxygen. The method includes combining the cytochrome P450 variant and an organosilicon compound having at least one silicon-bonded hydrogen atom to give a reaction mixture and exposing the reaction mixture to oxygen to oxidize the organosilicon compound, thereby preparing the silanol-functional organosilicon compound. Cytochrome P450 variants suitable for use in the method are also disclosed, along with methods for engineering and optimizing the same. Nucleic acids encoding the cytochrome P450 variants and compositions, expression vectors, and host cells including the same are also disclosed.

Method of preparing silanols with selective cytochrome P450 variants and related compounds and compositions

A method for preparing a hydrocarbylhydrocarbyloxysilane of formula RHSi(OR)(4), where each R is independently a hydrocarbyl group and subscript a is 1 to 4 and subscript b is 1 to 2 is disclosed. The method includes heating ingredients including a hydrocarbyl carbonate and a source of silicon and catalyst. The method can be used to make dimethyldimethoxysilane.

Method for preparing hydrocarbylhydrocarbyloxysilanes

A composition contains a polyorganosiloxane dispersed in a combination of a condensation product of a polysiloxane resin and a polyoxyalkylene polymer, and a non-aqueous fluid carrier; wherein the weight-ratio of non-aqueous fluid carrier to condensation product is 0.5 or more and 10 or less; the weight-ratio of the combination of condensation product and non-aqueous fluid carrier to polyorganosiloxane is 0.01 or more and 0.50 or less; and wherein the composition contains less than one weight-part aromatic solvent per million weight parts composition.

Solvent stable slip additive composition

A method is useful for preparing alkylalkoxysilanes, such as alkylalkoxysilanes, particularly dimethyldimethoxysilane. The method includes heating at a temperature of 150&#xb0; C. to 400&#xb0; C., ingredients including an alkyl ether and carbon dioxide, and a source of silicon and catalyst. A process for preparing a reaction product including a halosilane includes: contacting an unsaturated hydrocarbyl halide and a ternary intermetallic compound at a temperature of 300&#xb0; C. to 700&#xb0; C. to form the reaction product. The ternary intermetallic compound includes copper, silicon and a transition metal. The halosilane in the reaction product has formula R1R&#x2014;HSiX&#x3e; where each Ris independently a saturated monovalent hydrocarbyl group, each Ris independently an unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbyl group; each X is independently a halogen atom; subscript m is 1, 2, or 3; subscript n is 0, 1, or 2; subscript o is 0, 1, or 2; and a quantity (m+n+o) is 1, 2, or 3. At least a portion of the unsaturated hydrocarbyl groups in the unsaturated hydrocarbyl halide are converted to saturated hydrocarbyl groups (R) in the halosilane.
