A system and method for using augmented reality device for use during a surgical procedure are described. A system may include an augmented reality device to present a virtual indication, such as a virtual indication of a surgical instrument, a force vector, a direction, or the like. The augmented reality device may present a virtual aspect of a procedure, such as a virtual animation of a step of a procedure. The augmented reality device may present a virtual object, indication, aspect, etc., within a surgical field while permitting the surgical field or aspects of the surgical field to be viewed through the augmented reality display (e.g., presenting virtual objects mixed with real objects).

Augmented reality surgical technique guidance

A method of implanting a hip joint prosthesis into a patient can include obtaining image data of hip joint anatomy of the patient. Physical activities that the patient desires to participate in subsequent to implanting the hip prosthesis can be determined. A size and an initial placement of the hip joint prosthesis based on the image data can be determined. A desired range of motion of the hip joint prosthesis based on the determined physical activities can be determined. A plan can be created comprising a desired implanted location of the hip joint prosthesis and based on the desired range of motion. The plan can be incorporated onto a guide. The plan can be executed with the guide thereby implanting the hip joint prosthesis into the patient at the desired implanted position.

The FAI resurfacing controller may include a resurfacing navigator to generate and output a navigation file. The navigation file may include the model with the 3D boundary surface between native bone surface and the at least one osteophyte.

A stent delivery system includes a handle and an elongate catheter extending from the handle. The elongate catheter includes an inner member, an outer member mounted about the inner member and adapted for longitudinal movement relative to the inner member from an extended position to a retracted position and a stent mounted about the inner member. The thumbwheel is adapted for rotational movement to cause corresponding movement of the outer member from the extended position to the retracted position. In some examples, the stent delivery system may include a lock member adapted to engage at least one of the outer member and the thumbwheel to prevent movement thereof when the lock member is secured relative to the handle.

A system for planning and performing a surgical procedure comprises a motion capture system, an x-ray system, an electronic modeling system, and a surgical navigation system.

Systems and methods for using an augmented reality device during patient diagnosis. A method may include capturing an image of a patient, and presenting using an augmented reality display, while permitting the patient to be viewed through the augmented reality display, a virtual feature corresponding to anatomy of the patient obtained from the image. The method may include detecting impingement of the anatomy of the patient based on the image and displaying on the augmented reality display, an indication of the impingement at the virtual feature, such as by changing an attribute of the virtual feature.

A stent delivery system includes a handle and an elongate catheter extending from the handle, and defining a leading end and a trailing end, and having a longitudinal axis. The elongate catheter includes an inner member, an outer member mounted about the inner member and adapted for longitudinal movement relative to the inner member from an extended position to a retracted position and a stent mounted about the inner member. The stent delivery system also includes a thumbwheel mounted to the handle and operatively connected to the outer member, and a lock member releasably mountable to the handle. The thumbwheel is adapted for rotational movement to cause corresponding movement of the outer member from the extended position to the retracted position. The lock member is adapted to engage at least one of the outer member and the thumbwheel to prevent movement thereof when the lock member is secured relative to the handle, and is adapted to release the at least one of the outer member and the thumbwheel when the lock member is released relative to the handle. The lock member may be adapted to engage each of the outer member and the thumbwheel to prevent respective movement thereof when the lock member is secured relative to the handle and adapted to release each of the outer member and the thumbwheel when the lock member is released relative to the handle.
