Several embodiments include a method of computing void fraction in a two-phase mixture in a pipe. A driver and a transmitter antenna can transmit a radio frequency (RF) signal through the pipe. The pipe can convey the two-phase mixture extracted from a geothermal well. The RF signal can pass through the two-phase mixture. A receiver antenna in the pipe can receive the RF signal. A receiver circuit can measure signal strength attenuations of the RF signal at the receiver antenna over a time window. A computation engine can compute an average of the signal strength attenuations over the time window. The computation engine or another computing device can then compute, in real-time, a change in a void fraction of the two-phase mixture based on the average of the signal strength attenuations.

Radio frequency based void fraction determination

Several embodiments include a method of computing a phase composition ratio of a two-phase mixture in a pipe. For example, the phase composition ratio is a void fraction or a dryness fraction. The two-phase mixture can have one or more material substances that do not travel as a whole (e.g., at least two of solid phase, liquid phase, and gaseous phase or two liquid materials of different densities that do not mix). A load cell can measure, continuously, weight of the pipe and content of the pipe. Then, a computing system or a circuit can compute, continuously, a moving average of the continuously measured weight. The computing system or the circuit can compute a change in the phase composition ratio of the two-phase mixture based on the computed moving average.

Weight-based phase composition ratio determination

Maintenance of reliable and highly available electronic systems to perform servicing and preventive maintenance may need to be performed without interruption of operations. Removal of circuit cards from a chassis may render the connectors on a chassis vulnerable to inadvertent short circuiting of power sources by stray metallic objects. A configuration where the power is removed from a connector as the circuit card is being extracted eliminates his possibility. The control circuits for the power supply connections and the power supplies are themselves redundant so that they may be similarly serviced.

System and method of power control for a high-availability system

A power supply and circuit module includes a housing, a power supply and a circuit module received in the housing. The power supply and the circuit module can be removably installed into and removed from a cage of an electronic system as a unit by a sliding action. The cage includes a first bottom plate, a backplane connected to the first bottom plate. A plurality of standoffs are formed on the first bottom plate for supporting a motherboard thereon. An electrical connector, such as a card connector, is directly formed on the backplane for connecting a circuit card.

Power supply and circuit module for data processing system

A circuit card for a data processing system includes a printed circuit board (PCB) and a carrier. The PCB includes opposing sides parallel to a mounting direction when the PCB is installed to a cage. The carrier is attached to the PCB and includes at least one guiding member offset from a normal direction of the PCB and guiding installation of the PCB in the cage. The cage includes a plurality of support plates extending along a first direction and aligned along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction of the cage to define a plurality of air flow channels. When the circuit card is mounted to one of the support plates by engaging the guiding member to the support plate, the PCB is offset from the support plate and located right in the air flow channel without being obstructed by the support plate.

Circuit card and cage arrangement with improved cooling

A power supply consumes mains power and has first outputs which produce an operational voltage for controlling a CPU and a primary link interface. The primary link interface is capable of sending a mains fail message through the primary link using only power from one of the first outputs. The power supply also produces second outputs for powering circuitry not related to the transmission of this power fail message. The power supply detects loss of mains power and signals this by pulling the second outputs to a signal voltage which may be near ground during a first output holdup time. The equipment powered by this supply detects the second output changing from an operational voltage to a signaling voltage, and sends this information to the CPU, which sends a power fail message across the primary link interface during the first output holdup time.
