A retrofit operating handle assembly structured to allow a CM22 type circuit breaker to be operatively coupled to a MG 8 or 9 type circuit breaker tank is provided. The operating handle assembly includes a tank assembly, which is coupled to the MG 8 or 9 type circuit breaker tank, and a circuit breaker, which is coupled to the CM22 type circuit breaker.

A dampening apparatus has a housing with a plurality of first guide members and a plurality of second guide members coupled together. A first biasing member is located in an area proximate to the first guide members and within the housing. A first planar member is provided having a plurality of first apertures with the first guide members or the second guide members passing through the first apertures. A plurality of second planar members is provided having a plurality of second apertures with the second guide members passing through the second apertures. A plurality of second biasing members is located in an area proximate to the second guide members. An elongated shaft is coupled to the first planar member. The dampening apparatus could be included in a circuit interrupter.

A retrofit assembly structured to allow a CM22 type circuit breaker to engage, and be enclosed by, a CMD type circuit breaker tank is provided. The retrofit assembly includes a levering mechanism, a circuit breaker bus assembly having bus support members, and a door handle system structured to allow a user to actuate the circuit breaker contacts when the tank is closed.

A network protector relay controls a circuit breaker connected between polyphase feeder and network busses. A circuit samples polyphase circuit breaker current and network voltage to generate digital polyphase current and voltage samples. A microcontroller generates positive sequence current and voltage vectors from the current and voltage samples. A first trip algorithm trips the breaker in response to the positive sequence current vector being in a first trip region of a first trip characteristic with respect to the positive sequence voltage vector. The first trip characteristic is defined by a reverse trip setpoint and a first positive angle. A second trip algorithm trips the breaker in response to the positive sequence current vector being in a second trip region of a second trip characteristic with respect to the positive sequence voltage vector. The second trip characteristic is defined by the reverse trip setpoint and a second negative angle.

Network protector relay and method of controlling a circuit breaker employing two trip characteristics

A network protector relay for a circuit breaker includes a microcontroller routine which provides a positive sequence network voltage from polyphase network voltages on a network bus. Another microcontroller routine provides a positive sequence phasing voltage from the polyphase network voltages on the network bus and polyphase feeder voltages on a feeder bus. A recloser circuit automatically recloses the circuit breaker connected between the polyphase feeder bus and the polyphase network bus in response to a function of a plurality of setpoints and the positive sequence phasing voltage which indicates a first flow of power from the polyphase feeder bus to the polyphase network bus. A receiver receives a remote close command. Another routine temporarily changes at least one of the setpoints in response to the received close command, in order to conditionally close the circuit breaker for a second flow of power from the polyphase feeder bus to the polyphase network bus, with the second flow of power being less than the first flow of power.

A network protector is provided with diagnostics which alert a utility of component problems in detail. Selected measurements are used to assess the condition of various components such as for example, main contact electrical resistance, a blown fuse, the availability of sufficient voltage for charging the springs which close the main contacts and adequate voltage for tripping the contacts open. These abnormal operating conditions are transmitted to a remote station at the utility so that proper maintenance can be efficiently provided.

Network protector with diagnostics

An elegantly simple bicycle storage rack that can be mounted or demounted quickly and easily from the cargo area of pick-up trucks. The rack is comprised of a lower tubular base and an upper tubular member joined by a plurality of upright posts spaced by slots for bicycle wheels. The lower tubular base fits comfortably in the foremost corner of the cargo area of the pick-up truck. The upper tubular member is secured to the sides of the pick-up truck with straps, cords or wires. A bicycle is held securely in the rack by a c-shaped hook or clamp that fits around the steering neck, frame of bicycle frame mounting and is secured with a specially designed locknut. No additional, straps, nuts, locks or other devices are needed to securely hold the bicycle in the rack. The bicycle storage rack is also constructed to be easily mounted on a surface platform when not in use in the back of a pick-up truck.
