The present teachings describe a printhead assembly. The printhead assembly includes a first plate and a second plate stacked together. The printhead assembly includes a first adhesive between the first plate and the second plate for bonding the plates together. The printhead assembly includes a second adhesive surrounding an outer edge of the first adhesive wherein the second adhesive has an oxygen migration rate lower than an oxygen migration rate of the first adhesive. An oxygen sensitive component is contained within the outer edge of the first adhesive.

A method of forming openings in a polymer layer includes positioning a layer of a material over a cavity such that a portion of the first material lies over a cavity, ablating the portion of the material at a first shape, and ablating the portion of the material at a second shape, wherein the second shape lies within the first shape. A method of forming openings in a polymer layer includes positioning a layer of a first material over a second material having a cavity such that a portion of the first material lies over the cavity, ablating the portion of the first material over the cavity at a first shape, and ablating the portion of the second material over the cavity at a second shape, wherein the second shape lies within the first shape.

An adhesive compound can include an uncured epoxy film having a curing temperature between about 80&#xb0; C. and about 300&#xb0; C. The uncured epoxy film can include a cresol novolac epoxy resin and a bisphenol A epoxy resin. The uncured epoxy film can have a thickness between about 0.1 mil and about 5 mil.

Use of epoxy film adhesive with high ink compatibility and thermal oxidative stability for printhead interstitial bonding in high density printheads

A method for forming an ink jet printhead comprises processing an epoxy adhesive such that negative effects from physical contact with particular inks are reduced or eliminated. Conventional adhesives processed using conventional techniques are known to gain weight and squeeze out when exposed to certain inks such as ultraviolet inks, solid inks, and aqueous inks. An embodiment of the present teachings can include processing of a particular adhesive such that the resulting epoxy adhesive is suitable for printhead applications.

A method of manufacturing a print head includes forming a jet stack having an array of jets, arranging an array of transducers on the jet stack such that each transducer in the array of transducers corresponds to each jet in the array of jets, embossing a flexible circuit substrate having contact pads such that the contact pads extend out of a plane of the flexible circuit substrate, and arranging the flexible circuit substrate such that the contact pads electrically connect to at least some of the transducers in the array of transducers.

Method of manufacturing a print head

The disclosure provides a solvent system for dissolving an epoxy adhesive such as I2300L epoxy adhesive. The solvent system includes a dialkyl ether solvent and an alkyl alcohol solvent. The disclosure also provides methods for preparing a uniform thin film deposit of an epoxy adhesive for printhead interstitial bonding during their fabrication.

Subtractive three dimensional fabrication of an inkjet plate

Methods and systems of ejecting ink drops from an inkjet printer are disclosed. The methods and systems can include a printhead with one or more tapered nozzles each with an associated taper angle and exit diameter. Ink can be received into the printhead and formed into ink drops in the tapered nozzles. The ink drops can each have an associated drop mass and drop speed. The tapered nozzles can be provided such that the exit diameter can independently dictate the drop mass and the taper angle can independently dictate the drop speed. As such, the complexity of jet design optimization is reduced.

A method of manufacturing a fluid dispensing subassembly includes forming a body pressure chamber from a body plate or a set of plates including a body plate, and adhesively bonding a diaphragm plate to at least the body plate of the fluid dispensing subassembly, with an adhesive layer having a polymer core and thin adhesive layers on each side of the polymer core, wherein the diaphragm plate is bonded to one of the thin adhesive layers on a first side of the core and the body plate is bonded to the thin adhesive layer on a second side of the core.
