A shipping jig for an e-motor includes a central axis, an annular disk arranged for fixing to a cover of the e-motor, and a cylindrical portion extending axially from the annular disk and arranged for axially and radially positioning a rotor carrier of the e-motor relative to a stator of the e-motor. The annular disk includes a first plurality of holes distributed about a first bolt circle and a second plurality of holes distributed about a second bolt circle, smaller than the first bolt circle. The cylindrical portion may also be arranged for radially positioning a portion of a resolver relative to the stator. The first plurality of holes may each have a same third diameter and the second plurality of holes may each have a same fourth diameter, greater than the same third diameter.

A drive arrangement for a torque converter is disclosed herein. The drive arrangement includes a first drive plate element configured to be connected to a torque converter cover and configured to secure a rotor of an electric motor against the torque converter cover. A second drive plate element is configured to be connected to a flex plate, and the first and second drive plate elements are connected to each other.

An emotor connection arrangement for connecting power electronics of an electric or hybrid electric vehicle to an emotor. The emotor connection arrangement includes a junction box configured to extend from the power electronics to the emotor, and phase bars that extend in the junction box and electrically connect the power electronics to the emotor. A first access cover is removably connected to the junction box and configured to provide access for connecting the phase bars to the emotor, and a second access cover provides similar access for connecting the phase bars to the power electronics. In order to prevent overheating, the first access cover includes a cooling fluid channel with a cooling fluid inlet configured to be connected to a cooling fluid source and a cooling fluid outlet configured to be connected to a cooling fluid return.

A generator module for a vehicle includes a housing with a first conical surface, a rotor assembly with a second conical surface, aligned with the first conical surface, and a spring arranged to push the second conical surface into contact with the first conical surface. In an example embodiment, the first conical surface or the second conical surface includes a plastic surface or a friction paper surface. In an example embodiment, the rotor assembly is axially displaceable within the housing to compress the spring and move the second conical surface away from the first conical surface.

Generator module

A plastic coolant fitting for a hybrid module includes an upper coolant tube with a first straight section and a rounded section, and a lower coolant tube with a second straight section fixed to the rounded section by spin welding. The rounded section may include a ring-shaped groove and the second straight section may include a ring-shaped protrusion installed in the ring-shaped groove. Prior to spin welding, the ring-shaped groove and the ring-shaped protrusion may include respective complementary trapezoidal cross-sections.

Plastic coolant fittings for hybrid module applications

A hybrid drive assembly is provided having a hybrid drive housing with an electric motor and a disconnect clutch therein. A transmission is connected to the hybrid drive housing and a torque converter is provided between the electric motor and the transmission. A baffle extends radially between the torque converter and the hybrid drive housing. The baffle includes a ring-shaped body that is affixed to the hybrid drive housing and extends completely around a transmission side periphery of the hybrid drive housing. A fluid pathway is located on or in the baffle, and orifices extend from the fluid pathway toward the electric motor. A fluid inlet port is connected to the fluid pathway, and a fluid connection is provided from a pressurized fluid source to the fluid inlet port. This allows fluid circulated by a pump within the transmission, to be sprayed on the electric motor for cooling.

A torque converter, including: a cover arranged to receive torque; a pump including a pump shell connected to the cover, and pump blades; a turbine in fluid communication with the pump and including a turbine shell and turbine blades; a stator including stator blades disposed between the turbine and the pump; a pump hub non-rotatably connected to the pump shell and including a first planar surface facing radially outward with respect to an axis of rotation; and a resolver rotor non-rotatably connected to the pump hub and including a second planar surface in contact with the first planar surface and facing radially inward with respect to the axis of rotation. The pump hub includes a protrusion extending radially outward from the first planar surface and in contact with the resolver rotor. The resolver rotor is arranged to determine a rotational position of the torque converter around the axis of rotation.

A hybrid module includes a rotational axis and an electric motor. The electric motor has a stator assembly and a rotor assembly. The stator assembly includes a stator plate with a first radially extending tab with a first threaded hole for receiving a first fastener for fixing the stator assembly to a jig plate, a second radially extending tab with a first dowel hole for receiving a first dowel to locate the stator assembly in the jig plate, and a third radially extending tab with a second dowel hole for receiving a second dowel to locate the stator assembly in a transmission housing. The rotor assembly is disposed radially inside of the stator assembly and includes a torque converter with a pilot for locating the torque converter relative to the jig plate or relative to an engine crankshaft.

A rotor for a hybrid drivetrain includes a rotor carrier, at least one rotor segment, and a torque converter. The rotor carrier has a first tubular portion with an outer surface, and an annular portion with a first through hole. The at least one rotor segment is installed on the outer surface. The torque converter has an impeller with a first shell and a plurality of first blades fixed to the first shell, a cover with a second shell fixed to the first shell to form a hydraulic chamber and a fastener fixed to the second shell and extending through the first through hole, and a turbine disposed in the hydraulic chamber and including a third shell and a plurality of second blades fixed to the second shell.

Rotor carrier connection

An oil-spray tube assembly includes a tube having an outer circumferential surface, an inner circumferential surface defining a hollow center, a closed distal end, an open proximal end defining an axially recessed annular seat, and an orifice extending between the inner and outer surfaces. A poppet valve has a radially extending flange and is received in the hollow center with the flange disposed on the annular seat. The valve defines an inlet, a cylindrical valve chamber in fluid communication with the inlet, an outlet exiting the valve chamber, and a valve seat between the inlet and the outlet. A ball is disposed within the valve chamber and is movable between a closed position in which the ball is seated on the valve seat to sever fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet and an open position in which the ball is spaced from the valve seat to place the inlet and outlet in fluid communication.

A P1 hybrid module for a vehicle includes a housing, a motor stator, an input shaft, a resolver rotor, an output flange, a motor rotor, a housing plate, and a resolver stator. The housing is arranged for fixing to an engine and a multi-speed transmission. The motor stator is fixed to the housing. The input shaft is arranged for driving connection to a flange of a damper. The resolver rotor is fixed to the input shaft. The output flange is arranged for fixing to a torque converter. The motor rotor is rotatably fixed to the output flange. The housing plate is fixed to the housing by a first fastener. The resolver stator is fixed to the housing plate radially outside of the resolver rotor.

P1 hybrid module

A rotor for an electric motor includes an axis, a rotor carrier a plurality of rotor segments, a first end plate, a second end plate, and a spring element. The rotor carrier has a tubular portion with a cylindrical surface and a radial wall extending radially outwardly from the cylindrical surface. The plurality of rotor segments circumscribe the cylindrical surface. The first end plate is disposed at a first axial end of the plurality of rotor segments adjacent to the radial wall. The second end plate is disposed at a second axial end of the plurality of rotor segments. The spring element presses the first end plate, the plurality of rotor segments, and the second end plate against the radial wall. The spring element includes a ring portion and a plurality of segments extending axially from the ring portion.

Electric motor for hybrid module

A shipping strap for a hybrid module includes a first annular surface, a second annular surface, and a central bore. The first annular surface includes a first orifice for receiving a first fastener for fixing the shipping strap to a hybrid module housing, or receiving a dowel pin for radially positioning the shipping strap relative to the hybrid module housing. The second annular surface includes a second orifice for receiving a second fastener for securing the shipping strap to a rotor for an electric machine to axially position the rotor in the hybrid module housing. In some example embodiments, the shipping strap has a through bore aligned with the central bore, and a lifting element installed in the through bore for installing the hybrid module in a multi-speed transmission. In an example embodiment, the lifting element is installed in the through bore by a threaded connection.

A clutch assembly is disclosed herein. The clutch assembly includes a joint balance chamber positioned between a disconnect apply chamber and a torque converter clutch apply chamber. A torque converter assembly includes a charge pressure fluid circuit. A hub defines a passage between the charge pressure fluid circuit and the joint balance chamber, such that fluid from the torque converter assembly is provided to the joint balance chamber.

Clutch assembly

A modular hybrid transmission that provides for an improved support of the rotor as well as an improved cooling layout for the stator. The modular hybrid transmission has a rotating assembly and a housing assembly. The rotating assembly includes a rotor assembly, a rotor carrier hub that supports the rotor, and an input shaft. The rotor carrier is rotationally fixed on the input shaft. The housing assembly houses the rotating assembly, and includes a housing having an outer wall, a stator assembly connected to the outer wall, and a radially extending stationary wall that extends from the outer wall toward the output shaft. The stationary wall includes an axially extending wall portion that extends parallel to an outer surface of the input shaft, and a radial ball bearing supports the input shaft on this axially extending wall portion. Two stator cooling paths are channeled in the housing.
