A system includes a processor and a non-transitory, computer-readable memory that includes instructions executable by the processor for causing the processor to perform operations. The operations include receiving a query including an asset inventory or maintenance question of an asset of a power distribution network. The operations further include accessing data of the power distribution network that is associated with the asset and applying a forecasting model to the query and the data of the power distribution network that is associated with the asset to generate an asset inventory or maintenance forecast. Additionally, the operations include controlling an ordering operation of the asset or a maintenance scheduling of the asset using the asset inventory or maintenance forecast.

Asset management for utility system maintenance

Temporary outages or degradation of a resource, such as electric power, may be detected by identifying anomalies in waveform data collected by collection points. The collection points may be distributed throughout a resource distribution system and configured to communicate data to a headend system. The headend system processes the data to identify anomalies and to correlate waveform data collected by different collection points. The geographic locations of the collection points with correlated data are used to identify a geographic region. An unmanned aerial vehicle may be used to conduct an inspection of the geographic region and to collect inspection data. The inspection data may be communicated to the headend system. The waveform data and the inspection data may be used to determine the correct resources to deploy to address the cause of the anomaly.

Using waveform data to identify an inspection zone for a resource distribution system

Technologies for autonomously determining location information of a network node in a mesh network are provided. For example, a mesh network includes primary nodes whose locations are known and secondary nodes whose locations are to be determined. A secondary node is configured to identify in-range primary nodes among the primary nodes that are in the communication range of the secondary node, and determine whether the number of the in-range primary nodes is above a threshold. If the number of the in-range primary nodes is above the threshold, the secondary node further determines a distance between the secondary node and each of selected in-range primary nodes, and calculates a location of the secondary node based on the distances and the respective locations of the selected in-range primary nodes. The secondary node further transmits the calculated location to a headend system over the mesh network.

Autonomous geographical location determination using mesh network

A meter collar includes a connection path to form an electrical connection between a distributed energy resource (DER) meter and line voltage wirings of an electric distribution system and a second connection path to form an electrical connection between the DER meter and neutral wires of the electric distribution system, a DER device, and a load. Further, the meter collar includes a third connection path within the meter collar to form an electrical connection between the DER meter and output voltage wirings of the DER device. Furthermore, the meter collar includes mating connectors electrically connected to a first end of a corresponding connection path to accept mating connectors of the DER meter. The meter collar also includes mating connectors electrically connected to a second end of the corresponding connection path to mate with the line voltage wirings, the neutral wires, and the output voltage wirings.

Systems for electrically connecting metering devices and distributed energy resource devices

An electric meter socket includes a first connection path within the electric meter socket to form a first electrical connection between a distributed energy resource (DER) meter and line voltage wirings from an electric distribution system. The electric meter socket further includes a second connection path within the electric meter socket to form a second electrical connection between the DER meter and neutral wires of the electric distribution system, a DER device, and a load. Additionally, the electric meter socket includes a third connection path within the electric meter socket to form a third electrical connection between the DER meter and output voltage wirings of the DER device. Further, the electric meter socket includes a DER connector positioned on a side of the electric meter socket to receive the output voltage wirings of the DER device and to electrically couple the output voltage wirings to the third connection path.

Meter and socket for use with a distributed energy resource device

Certain aspects and features include techniques for reporting resource flow at a metering device. In an example, a metering device measures resource flow by measuring a pressure or a flow rate. The metering device sets a reporting rate to a default reporting rate. The metering device transmits communications indicating the measured resource flow to an external device at the reporting rate. The metering device detects seismic activity at the metering device. The metering device determines that the seismic activity exceeds a seismic threshold. The metering device, in response to determining that the seismic activity exceeds the seismic threshold, adjusts the reporting rate to an event reporting rate, and starts an event time period. The metering device, transmits communications indicating the measured resource flow to the external device at the event reporting rate during the event time period.
