Printing apparatuses include a photoreceptor adapted to print an image by applying marking material to print media, a fuser adapted to heat the marking material on the print media, and a controller. The controller determines the amount of marking material per unit area of the image before the fuser heats the marking material on the print media. The controller rasterizes the image to produce a bitmap of the image, but the amount of marking material per unit area for the image is determined before completion of rasterization and marking of the image. The controller also adjusts the operating temperature of the fuser to a fusing temperature based on the amount of marking material per unit area of the image, causes the photoreceptor to print the image on the print media using the bitmap of the image, and causes the fuser to fuse the marking material to the print media.

Disclosed is a xerographic printing apparatus and print cartridge including a deformable electrically conductive ring. According to an exemplary embodiment, a xerographic image rendering print cartridge includes a drive shaft, a photoreceptor drum and a deformable electrically conductive ring operatively associated with electrically connecting an inside surface of the photoreceptor drum to the drive shaft to provide a grounding electrical path.

A system of automatically naming an electronic document may include a scanning device. The system may receive a physical document that is to be converted into an electronic document, perform optical character recognition on at least a portion of the physical document to identify one or more terms that are present in the physical document, and store the identified terms in the data store associated with the scanning device. The system may receive input from a user that includes one or more first characters and corresponds to a title of the electronic document. The system may identify one or more terms from the data store that correspond to the one or more first characters by querying the data store using the received input, and cause the identified terms to be displayed to the user via a display device of the scanning device as suggested document names for the electronic document.

Methods and systems for automatically generating a name for an electronic document

A method is provided for automatically positioning a print head () relative to a photoreceptor () in a xerographic print engine (). The method includes: operating the print head () to produce an indicia in a latent image formed on the photoreceptor (); measuring a dimension of the indicia; and automatically positioning the print head () relative to the photoreceptor () in response to a result of the measuring.

Autofocus LED print head mechanism

A system and method is provided for determining the location of one or more biased transfer rolls relative to associated photoreceptors in a printer. The one or more biased transfer rolls can be moved into contact with an intermediate transfer surface bringing the surface into contact with associated photoreceptors to form a closed biased transfer roll image transfer nip for transferring an image from the photoreceptor to the intermediate transfer surface. The open or closed condition of the biased transfer roll image transfer nip is determined by applying a constant current to the biased transfer roll and evaluating a voltage at the biased transfer roll. The open or closed condition of different image transfer nips can be determined in a similar manner. A plurality of biased transfer rolls can be ganged together for simultaneous movement with respect to associated photoreceptors to form a plurality of image transfer nips, the open and closed condition which can also be determined.

System and method for detecting bias transfer roll positions using resistance detection

Method, system, and computer program product for generating a machine-readable code for an electronic document are disclosed. A user interface receives an input for defining one or more areas of interest in the electronic document. One or more location identifiers are determined corresponding to each of the one or more areas of interest. The machine-readable code is then generated for the electronic document based on the one or more location identifiers. Further, the machine-readable code is embedded in the electronic document. The machine-readable code when scanned and decoded enables extracting of one or more descriptors (e.g., text written in various locations specified by the one or more location identifiers). The one or more descriptors are used for at least one of naming the electronic document or determining the one or more attributes of the message.

Method and system for generating machine-readable code

An image recording apparatus including a memory element and a processor for a specially programmed general purpose computer. The memory element stores correction data for a plurality of locations on a photoreceptor for the image recording apparatus. The processor is for: inducing a charge on the photoconductive layer; receiving image data including, for said each location in the plurality of locations, a first or second desired voltage level; calculating, using the correction and image data, respective desired output power levels for a LED printbar for the apparatus, aligned with the plurality of locations, to discharge each location to the one of the first or second desired charge level, the respective desired output power levels selected to compensate for variances of respective induced charge levels at the plurality of locations; and supplying respective power inputs to the plurality of LEDs to generate the respective desired output power levels.

Device and method for improving xerographic voltage uniformity for an image recording apparatus

A printing apparatus includes a charging device and a photoreceptor adjacent the charging device. The charging device transfers a charge to the photoreceptor. Also, a charge patterning device is adjacent the photoreceptor. The patterning device patterns the charge on the photoreceptor to form a latent image charge. Additionally, an automated cleaning device is adjacent the charging device. The charge patterning device periodically moves by the charging device and the charge patterning device to simultaneously clean the charging device and the charge patterning device.

A toner repelling stripper finger assembly is provided for stripping toner image carrying copy sheets from an outer surface of a moving heated fusing member. The toner repelling stripper finger assembly includes (a) a finger shaft having a first end for attaching to a baffle, and a second distal end; (c) an electrically conductive tip located at the second distal end of the finger shaft for contacting the outer surface of the moving heated fusing member to strip the toner image carrying copy sheets therefrom; and (d) an electrical biasing source connected to the electrically conductive tip for electrically biasing the electrically conductive tip to a desired electrical polarity, thereby repelling and preventing charged toner particles from being attracted and building up on the stripper finger assembly.
