A package for a micro-electromechanical device (MEMS package) includes an inner enclosure having an inner cavity defined therein, and a fill port channel communicating with the inner cavity and of sufficient length to allow a quantity of adhesive to enter the fill port channel while preventing the adhesive from entering the inner cavity.

Microelectronic device

A packaged micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) device assembly includes a MEMS device, a substrate within which the MEMS device is disposed, and a lid disposed over the substrate. The assembly may include one or more first cavities within the lid having a predetermined volume satisfying packaging specifications for the packaged MEMS device assembly. The assembly may include one or more second cavities within the lid and one or more corresponding overflow areas within the lid, where each second cavity contains a material and each corresponding overflow area is adapted to catch overflow of the material. The assembly may include one or more third cavities within the lid and one or more channels within one of the substrate and the lid to fluidically connect the MEMS device to the third cavities.

According to one exemplary embodiment discussed herein, an active color wheel is provided. The active color wheel according to one exemplary embodiment includes a plurality of light sources configured to be moved through a period of motion. Further, the plurality of light sources are configured to be activated over a range of the period of motion.

A micro-display has a device chip with a transparent layer overlying one or more micro-electromechanical system devices. A transparent cover overlies the transparent layer. An index-of-refraction-matching medium is interposed between the transparent layer and the transparent cover. An index of refraction of the index-of-refraction-matching medium is substantially equal to an index of refraction of the transparent layer and the transparent cover.

Micro-displays

A method of forming a micro-display includes forming a device that includes forming a partially reflecting layer on a first substrate and forming a plate overlying the partially reflecting layer, and adhering the device to a second substrate.

Micro-displays and their manufacture

An electronic device has at least one component that is capable of generating a quantity of heat. The electronic device further has an air-moving device and an air duct. The air moving device is capable of creating a flow of air that removes a portion of the quantity of heat. The flow of air enters the air duct. The air duct has a restriction chamber that includes a venturi vent in which the flow of air into the duct and through the restriction chamber creates a new flow of air into the venturi vent. The new flow of air into the venturi vent does not pass over the at least one component in the electronic device.

Apparatus to enhance cooling of electronic device

The docking station includes one or more ramps which receive the computer during docking. The ramps are elevated so as to shield a docking connector of the docking station during reception of the computer. With the computer positioned on the ramps, the ramps are lowered to bring the computer into engagement with the station's docking connector. The computer is secured in the docked position by any of a coupling force between docking connectors, a latching action applied to the ramps, or a latching action applied to the computer.

An apparatus for reducing noise emitted by an electronic or other device and such devices incorporating the noise reducing apparatus. A mechanism for acoustically filtering undesired noise from an electronic device, particularly noise generated by a cooling mechanism is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, noise is filtered at least in part with an appropriately dimensioned compressible air space. The noise reducing or filtering mechanism may be utilized with portable and non-portable computers, stereos, entertainment equipment and other devices.
