A transparency having a bus bar system includes a non-conductive substrate having a major surface. At least one conductive coating is located over at least a portion of the major surface. An electrically conductive adhesive, such as an isotropically conductive tape or film, is located over at least a portion of the conductive coating. A metallic member, such as a metallic foil or metallic braid, is located over the isotropically conductive adhesive.

Enhanced bus bar system for aircraft transparencies

A laminated transparency includes a first ply having a No.surface and a No.surface. A second ply is spaced from the first ply and has a No.surface and a No.surface, with the No.surface facing the No.surface. A polymeric interlayer is positioned between the first and second plies. At least one failure strip is incorporated into the interlayer to provide a predetermined failure orientation for the transparency.

Laminated transparency with controlled failure and method of making the same

A bus bar system includes a non-conductive substrate having a major surface. At least one conductive bus bar is formed over at least a portion of the major surface. A conductive coating is formed over at least a portion of the bus bar and the major surface. An electrically conductive adhesive, such as an isotropically conductive tape or film, is applied over at least a portion of the film/bus bar junction. The system can optionally include a conductive metallic foil adhered to the isotropically conductive adhesive.

A method, composition, and article are disclosed relating to the formation of a hump seal on an aircraft transparency. The method includes applying to the aircraft transparency an adhesive composition having a Part A and a Part B. Part A includes a plasticizer, a cross-linking agent, and an adhesion promoter. Part B includes a moisture resister and an abrasion resister, with the adhesive composition being substantially sulfide free. In one example, the moisture resister includes polybutadiene. In another example, the adhesion promoter includes an epoxy silane.

Aircraft adhesive

A protective liner includes a base layer that can be affixed to an aircraft canopy or other substrate, a conductive polymeric interlayer positioned over the base layer, and a conductive top layer containing a reactive organic salt, or a hygroscopic salt, positioned over the conductive polymeric interlayer. The substrate can also be treated with a multilayer stack (including a substrate base coat layer, a metal layer positioned over the substrate base layer, a metal oxide layer positioned over the metal layer, and a tie layer positioned over the metal oxide layer). The protective liner can be affixed to a pretreated substrate by lamination or other means to form an enhanced, multilayer stack having beneficial properties.
