A container-closure assembly made of a soft plastic material comprising an elongated tubular member having a hollow nozzle, the bore of the nozzle at the tip end defining a discharge opening, a cap member connected at one end to the tip of the nozzle by a fracturable bridge connection and having a outwardly flared skirt projecting from said one end, a hollow finger disposed interiorly of the skirt, and the opening of said finger adjacent said nozzle being of a smaller diameter than the discharge opening in the nozzle to define a stepped configuration.

One-piece container closure assemblies

An assembly comprising a container having a body portion and a nozzle at one end of reduced cross-section, a closure cap engagable over the nozzle portion, at least one internal rib in the container adjacent the juncture of the body portion and nozzle extending downwardly into the body portion a predetermined depth whereby when container and cap are nested, and the cap portion of a first container cap assembly engages interiorly the body portion to a point where it abuts the ribs, there is defined a gap of predetermined axial distance between the lower edge of the body portion of the first container cap assembly and the transition shoulder between the body portion and nozzle of a second container cap assembly.

Unit dose assembly

A container-closure assembly comprising a container having a nozzle portion with a puncturable diaphragm defining a discharge opening and a closure of generally of cup-like form positionable over the nozzle and having a piercing element recessed in the closure of a predetermined axial length less than the diameter of the piercing portion.

Child resistant container closure assembly

A child resistant cap and tube assembly including a tube for containing a product and having an end portion with a recessed thin wall section puncturable to provide a discharge opening and a shoulder for limiting axial movement on the end portion. The cap has a central axis for alignment with the tube to slidably engage it. A piercer is normally spaced from the thin wall section in a first position and operable to puncture the thin wall upon movement of the cap to a second position. On the cap is formed a shoulder engaging portion for preventing movement to the second position without it being intentionally manipulated to a shoulder disengaging position. This portion may comprise a skirt detatchably attached to the end of the cap to prevent movement of the cap to the second position until the skirt is removed. Alternatively, this portion may comprise a ring and groove with the piercer being located on the other end of the cap whereby the intentional manipulation includes disengagement of the ring and groove. In still another alternative, the portion comprises a boss and socket, the socket being normally out of alignment with the boss and the intentional manipulation includes aligning the boss and socket.

Child resistant medicament dispenser

A child resistant cap and tube assembly, comprising a tube for containing a product and having an end portion with a recessed thin wall section puncturable to provide a discharge opening and a shoulder for limiting axial movement on the end portion. A cap is provided having a central axis for alignment with the tube and sized to slidably engage the end portion. An axially centered puncture is positioned to be aligned with the thin wall section and normally spaced from the thin wall section in a first position and operable to puncture the thin wall upon movement of the cap to a second position for opening the discharge opening. The cap further includes a shoulder for preventing axial movement of the cap from the first position to the second position without intentional manipulation of the shoulder to a shoulder disengaging position. The shoulder comprises a skirt detachably attached to the tube engaging end of the cap, the skirt engaging the shoulder to prevent movement of the cap to the second position until the skirt is removed. The shoulder comprises a boss located on the end portion and the shoulder comprises a socket on the cap. The socket is normally out of alignment with the boss to define the first position and the intentional manipulation includes aligning the boss and the socket to permit movement of the cap to the second position.

A dual compartment container assembly having two adjacent compartments separated by a common wall segment. The container includes a discharge end on the container which is operable to permit dispensing of the contents of the container. The container also includes a filling end on the container which is sealed after contents are placed in the compartments. The adjacent compartments have outer arcuate walls extending from junctions with the common wall segment to form bellows like compartments with the arcuate walls being joined at each junction with the common wall segment to form axially aligned pivotal junctions. In a preferred embodiment, the common wall segment is pleated to have a first length prior to filling and a second unpleated longer length after the filling end is sealed. This forms a straight line seal at the filling end and defines the bellows part of the compartments which therefore taper outwardly from the straight line seal to the discharge end of the container.

Dual chamber medicament dispenser having a pleated common wall

A dual compartment container assembly which comprises a container having two adjacent compartments defined by a common wall and a pair of outer arcuate walls. The container has a filling end which is sealed after contents are placed in the compartments and, of course, has a discharge end at the other axial end of the container. The common wall is pleated to have a 's' shaped curved first width prior to filling and an straightened longer width forming a straight line seal at a point spaced from the filling end. The outer walls and the common wall terminate axially at the filling end to provide a filling end seal region. Pressure forms the seal at the filling end by joining the ends of the outer walls and the seal includes the end of the common wall in the seal. The outer walls are joined with the common wall to form axially aligned pivotal junctions to define bellows by causing the compartments to taper outwardly from a point axially inward from the straight line seal. The bellows form no part of the straight line end seal It is preferred that the straight line seal is a heat seal.

Dual chamber medicament dispenser

A cap and tube assembly comprising a tube having a neck ending in a discharge end having an outwardly extending stem frangibly supported at a point recessed from the outer terminal end of the neck to define an outlet when the stem is removed. A cap sized to slightably fit the neck and including an inwardly facing stem engaging the socket is provided, positively locking the stem in the socket in a predetermined position. The cap is located at a first position where the stem and socket are spaced apart and at a second position defined by the predetermined position of a stem locking device. The stem is frangibly supported on the discharge end by an annular thin wall and a plurality of axially extending bridges for resisting axial movement of the stem and permitting rotational movement to rupture the thin wall to form an outlet for the tube.

Container-closure assembly

A cap and tube assembly device, including a tube for containing a product, a nozzle having one end mounted to one end of the tube and having a thin wall section puncturable to provide a discharge on the other end and a cap. The nozzle has a smaller axial cross section than the tube. The junction of the tube and the nozzle define an inclined surface of transition to permit flow without cavitation from the tube to the nozzle. The cap has an inside cross section sized to engage the nozzle and an outside cross section less than the inside cross section of the tube. The cap has an axially centered piercing point positioned in a first position spaced from the thin wall and movable to a second position to puncture the thin wall. The piercing point includes a chisel shaped edge for forming a hole in the thin wall without fragmenting the wall. Also provided are ribs positioned in the tube for preventing entry of the cap into the nozzle when a plurality of these assemblies are stacked one on another.

A cap and tube assembly device including a tube with a nozzle mounted on one end of the tube and having a thin wall section puncturable to provide a discharge on the other end of the nozzle. Also provided is a cap having a first end with an inside cross section sized to engage the nozzle and having an axially centered puncture spike positioned in a first position spaced from the thin wall and movable to a second position to puncture the thin wall. The puncture spike has a chisel shaped edge for forming a hole in the wall and a central bore for providing access to the contents of the tube. The cap has a second enclosing an applicator for dispensing the contents of the tube, whereby the contents of the tube is transferred to the applicator through the bore of the puncture means.

A multiple compartment container and closure assembly with a container having at least two adjacent compartments with end portions terminating in a common surface at one end of the container. The end is sized to accept a cap and the surface has a thin wall portion in communication with each of the compartments. A cap is sized to slidably fit on the end of the container which has puncture means being positioned in alignment with each of the thin wall portions of the container so that movement of the cap from a first position on the end to a second position causes the puncture means to puncture the respective thin wall portion with which it is aligned, to permit access to the contents of the adjacent compartments. A surface of interference on the one end of the container is positioned a predetermined distance from the thin wall portions, and a surface of resistance on the inside of said cap 15 positioned to engage the surface of interference to locate the cap on the end portion at the first position to prevent inadvertent movement of the cap to the second position.

Container and closure assembly

A child resistant cap and tube assembly with a tube for containing a product and having an end portion terminating in an axially centered open surface at its outer perimeter and having a recessed thin wall below the surface to seal the tube. The tube has a second surface of interference to axial movement on the end which is a predetermined distance from the perimeter. A cap is also provided, having a central axis for alignment with the tube and sized to slidably engage the end portion. The cap also has a resistance surface for engaging the surface of interference at a predetermined distance to locate the cap on the end portion at a first position to protect the recessed thin wall. The cap has an axially centered puncture means positioned inside said cap to puncture the recessed thin wall upon movement of the cap to a second position for opening the tube. Finally, the surface of interference and the resistance surface are positioned to cooperatively resist movement of the cap to the second position with a force sufficient to prevent inadvertent movement to that second position.

Child resistant cap and tube assembly

A container comprises a molded tube having a cap portion attached at one of its ends by a break-away junction and a sealed closure at the other end of its ends. The closure is formed after filling the tube with a unit dose. A cord is attached at one end to the cap by a thickened portion used as an alignment guide when filling and at the other end to the closure, and the cap remains attached to the tube by the cord after breaking the break-away junction.
