The present invention is drawn to a media sheet, comprising a substrate and a porous ink-receiving layer deposited on the substrate. The porous ink-receiving layer can comprise inorganic metal or semi-metal oxide particulates bound by a polymeric binder, and the porous ink-receiving layer can further include an effective amount of a sulfur-containing compound that interacts with ozone upon exposure thereto.

Sulfur-containing inorganic media coatings for ink-jet applications

A print medium having increased resistance to gasfade. An inhibitor comprising a sulfur-containing polymer is incorporated into the print medium. The sulfur-containing polymer is poly(1,4-phenylene sulfide) or poly(1,3-phenylene sulfide). The inhibitor is present in at least a surface of the print medium and may be present in the print medium in a concentration from approximately 0.25% by weight per cmof the print medium to approximately 30% by weight per cmof the print medium. A method of forming the print medium is disclosed as is a method of producing a printed image having increased resistance to gasfade.

Protection of printed images from gasfade

Anti-bronzing agents are added to ink-jet inks to prevent bronzing of the inks when printed on various types of photographic media. The additive can include one or more anti-bronzing agents comprising certain planar aliphatic or planar aromatic ring structures. The planar ring-containing anti-bronzing agent can be present in an effective concentration to reduce bronzing of the ink-jet ink printed on the ink-receiving layer.

Additives to eliminate bronzing of ink-jet inks printed on photo media

A dye-based ink includes a dye and a solvent. The dye-based ink has a high print quality on plain paper. The dye-based ink may have a print quality similar to pigment-based inks. This may be particularly relevant for black inks.

In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, an ink-jet ink can comprise a dye and a liquid vehicle carrying the dye. The liquid vehicle can include a sulfonated aromatic compound present in the ink-jet ink at an effective concentration to cause improvement of ozone fastness of said ink-jet ink.

Two-part fixatives are provided in conjunction with overcoating at least one ink-jet ink printed on a print medium and comprise (1) at least one first reactive component comprising a reactive monomer or oligomer, the reactive species selected from the group consisting of iso-cyanates and epoxy-terminated oligomers, optionally in a vehicle, and (2) at least one second component selected from the group consisting of polyols and polyvinyl alcohols, plus one or more base catalysts, optionally in a vehicle. The two components and catalyst(s) are deposited on the print medium on which the ink-jet ink has been printed, and react to form a hydrophobic polymer overcoating the printed ink and having a glass transition temperature within a range of &#x2212;20&#xb0; C. to +50&#xb0; C. and a melting temperature within a range of 30&#xb0; C. to 100&#xb0; C.

Polymeric additives to improve print quality and permanence attributes in ink-jet inks

An electrostatically stabilized ink includes a dispersion which is electrostatically stabilized and comprises a pigment. The ink also includes an ionic amphiphile additive which has a charge center having an opposite charge from a charge center of the dispersion.

Anti-bronzing agents are added to ink-jet inks to prevent bronzing of the inks when printed on various types of media. The additive can be an amine anti-bronzing agent that is protonated when the ink-jet ink is printed on the print medium.

Additives to eliminate bronzing of ink-jet inks

A source document guide apparatus prevents curling of a source document as the document is fed through a document reproduction machine. The source document guide includes a flat member having a surface and leading and trailing end portions, and at least one fastener at the leading end portion configured to attach the flat member to the document reproduction machine.

In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, an ink-jet ink can comprise a metallized phthalocyanine dye and a liquid vehicle carrying the dye. The liquid vehicle can include an amine additive present in the ink-jet ink at an effective concentration to cause improvement of ozone fastness. The improvement can be determined by comparing the ozone fastness of the ink-jet ink with a control ink-jet ink that does not include the amine additive.
