A self-sealing drain vent cover that allows for a vacuum to be created within piping of a plumbing fixture for unclogging purposes. The vent cover includes a outer cover and a seal insert. The outer cover includes a first tubular body and a first disk top to yield a closed off structure to support the seal insert. The first disk top is terminally and perimetrically connected to the first tubular body. The seal insert adheres to a surface around an overflow port to enclose said port. The seal insert includes a second tubular body, a second disk top, and an annular self-sealing mechanism. The second disk top is terminally and perimetrically connected to the second tubular body. The seal insert is mounted within the outer cover. The self-sealing mechanism is positioned adjacent to a bottom end of the second tubular body and is concentrically mounted to the second tubular body.

Catalyst support-activator for olefin polymerization catalysts, and processes for making, the support-activator comprising an intercalated, modified and calcined smectite clay comprising (a) pillars comprising aluminum and optionally: (i) at least one rare earth or lanthanide group metal; or (ii) at least one rare earth or lanthanide group metal and gallium; and (b) at least one ion-exchanged metal ion selected from the group consisting of aluminum, barium, beryllium, calcium, cerium, cesium, copper, chromium, gadolinium, gallium, germanium, hafnium, holmium, iron (II and III), lanthanum, lithium, magnesium, manganese, neodymium, potassium, praseodymium, rubidium, samarium, silver, selenium, sodium, strontium, tellurium, terbium, thallium, thorium, tin, titanium, uranium, ytterbium, yttrium, zinc and zirconium. The pillared clay exhibits a basal dspacing of: (A) 9 to 18 angstroms; or (B) equal to or greater than about 18.5 angstroms. Use of the modified clays, with metallocene catalyst precursor components, provides active olefin polymerization catalysts, preferably in the substantial absence of aluminoxanes or boron-containing compounds.

Process to produce modified clay, supported metallocene polymerization catalyst

An intercalated, modified and calcined smectite clay comprising (a) pillars comprising aluminum and: (i) at least one rare earth or lanthanide group metal; or (ii) at least one rare earth or lanthanide group metal and gallium; and (b) at least one ion-exchanged metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum, barium, beryllium, calcium, cerium, cesium, copper, chromium, gadolinium, gallium, germanium, hafnium, holmium, iron (II and III), lanthanum, lithium, magnesium, manganese, neodymium, potassium, praseodymium, rubidium, samarium, silver, selenium, sodium, strontium, tellurium, terbium, thallium, thorium, tin, titanium, uranium, ytterbium, yttrium, zinc and zirconium; wherein the clay is characterized by a basal dspacing equal to or greater than about 18.5 angstroms; and processes for making. The modified clays are suitably used as catalyst support-activators and when used in combination with metallocene catalyst precursor components, can provide active catalysts for polymerizing at least one olefin, preferably in the substantial absence of aluminoxanes or boron-containing compounds.

Process to produce modified clay, modified clay produced and use thereof

The rigid cover includes a first tubular body and a first disk top to yield a closed off structure to support the seal insert. The first disk top is terminally and perimetrically connected to the first tubular body. The seal insert adheres to a surface around an overflow port to enclose said port. The seal insert includes a second tubular body, a second disk top, and an annular self-sealing mechanism. The second disk top is terminally and perimetrically connected to the second tubular body. The seal insert is mounted within the rigid body. The self-sealing mechanism is positioned adjacent to a bottom end of the second tubular body and is concentrically mounted to the second tubular body.

Catalytic and/or adsorbent compositions are formed with greater flexibility to optimize various properties, such as strength and catalytic activity by employing a synthetic clay binder having a small particle size, e.g., an average particle size no greater than about 100 nm. Embodiments of the present invention comprise compositions containing a catalytic component and/or adsorbent component and laponite which functions as a binder either alone or with an additional binder component. Embodiments of the present invention further include a catalytic and/or adsorbent composition containing an inorganic binder and laponite as a lubricant to facilitate shaping, as by extrusion.

Catalyst/adsorbent composition with improved performance

The invention is a catalyst composition and process for making and using the catalyst composition. The catalyst composition promotes the combustion of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. The catalyst composition includes an effective concentration of Group VIII transition metal, such as palladium, an effective concentration of Group IB transition metal, such as copper, and a support, such as microspheroidal alumina.

Catalyst and process for preparing and using same

A material with high surface area can be obtained through the partial or total removal of CaO and MgO by acid leaching of blast furnace slag. This is accomplished by an improved process for selective leaching of blast furnace slag and other solid solution materials by control of temperature during leaching, rate of addition of acid, type of the acid, concentration of the acid, and concentration of the slag in the slurry. When these variables are controlled as disclosed a hierarchy of dissolution occurs. The hierarchy begins with MgO, progresses to CaO, and is followed by A1,O,, and the rate of acid addition is slow and controlled so that alumina does not dissolve (thereby depriving the remaining silica has no acid sites or catalytic activity). By invoking the hierarchy one gains selectivity, and this can be used to convert blast furnace slag to a material with high surface area which may have applications as an absorbent could be economically feasible. The resulting material is also high in silica-alumina and low in alkali. This would make it an excellent raw material for catalyst synthesis.

Sulfur oxides are removed in the regenerator zone and rapidly released as H.sub.2 S in the reactor zone of an FCC system employing a particulate SO.sub.x catalytic/absorbent comprising Cu and an alkali metal oxide. Embodiments include the use of an inorganic support, such as alumina or an EC.

Catalytic cracking with reduced emission of sulfur oxides

The invention is a catalyst composition and process for making and using the catalyst composition. The catalyst composition promotes the combustion of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. The catalyst composition includes an effective concentration of Group VIII transition metal oxide, an effective concentration of Group IIIB transition metal oxide, an effective concentration of Group IIA alkaline earth metal oxide, and, desirably, microspheroidal alumina. The preferred Group VIII transition metal oxide is cobalt oxide. The preferred Group IIIB transition metal oxide is lanthanum oxide. The preferred Group IIA alkaline earth metal is strontium oxide. The process is for producing a combustion promotor catalyst of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. The carrier for the catalyst is effective in FCC units when used on a support which is other than a mullite-containing support.

Sulfur oxides are removed in the regenerator zone and rapidly released as H.sub.2 S in the reactor zone of an FCC system employing a particulate SO.sub.x reducing additive comprising an alkali metal oxide. Embodiments comprise the incorporation of an inorganic support, MgO, CeO.sub.2 or Ag, and V.sub.2 O.sub.5.

Hydrothermally stable intercalated clays having interlayer (gallery) spacings greater than 21 angstroms are provided by pillars comprising a rare earth metal. The pillars preferably also contain a metal such as aluminum. Other pillaring metal/rare earth combinations and differing preparation conditions, such as pH, result in different interlayer spacings. Interlayer spacings of up to 50 angstroms may be produced.

In the process for hydrocracking hydrocarbons boiling above about 700.degree. F. to midbarrel fuel products boiling between about 300.degree. F. and about 700.degree. F. which includes contacting the hydrocarbons with hydrogen under effective hydrocracking conditions in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising at least one hydrogenation component and at least one cracking component, the improvement which comprises utilizing as the cracking component an expanded clay including pillars comprising (a) at least one pillaring metal, (b) at least one rare earth element and (c) oxygen located between the sheets of at least one clay mineral or synthetic analogue thereof.
