Embodiments described herein generally relate to systems, tools, and methods for flow assurance monitoring within pipe structures. In an embodiment is provided a method of determining at least one property of a mixture flowing through a system that includes introducing an inhibitor to a fluid flowing through the system to form the mixture; exposing the mixture to electromagnetic energy to induce at least one paramagnetic response from at least one diamagnetic species present in the mixture flowing through the system; performing electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy on the at least one paramagnetic response to generate an EPR spectrum; and determining the at least one property of the mixture based on the EPR spectrum. Apparatus for determining fluid properties and systems for extracting hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir are also provided.

Method for determining physical representation of species in fluid flowing through system

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for performing electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy on a fluid from a flowing well, such as fluid from hydrocarbon recovery operations flowing in a downhole tubular, wellhead, or pipeline. One example method generally includes, for a first EPR iteration, performing a first frequency sweep of discrete electromagnetic frequencies on a cavity containing the fluid; determining first parameter values of reflected signals from the first frequency sweep; selecting a first discrete frequency corresponding to one of the first parameter values that is less than a threshold value; activating a first electromagnetic field in the fluid at the first discrete frequency; and while the first electromagnetic field is activated, performing a first DC magnetic field sweep to generate a first EPR spectrum.

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) techniques and apparatus for performing EPR spectroscopy on a flowing fluid

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for closed-loop control of a system using one or more electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) sensors located on-site. With such EPR sensors, a change can be applied to the system, the EPR sensors can measure the effect(s) of the change, and then adjustments can be made in real-time. This feedback process may be repeated continuously to control the system.

In an embodiment is provided a method of determining at least one property of a fluid that includes inducing a paramagnetic response from at least one diamagnetic species flowing through a system, the fluid including the at least one diamagnetic species; performing electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy on at least a portion of the fluid to generate an EPR spectrum; and determining at least one property of the fluid based on the EPR spectrum. In another embodiment is provided a method of determining at least one property of a first fluid that includes introducing an inhibitor composition to a first fluid flowing through a system to form a second fluid; performing EPR spectroscopy on at least a portion of the second fluid to generate an EPR spectrum; and determining at least one property of the second fluid based on the EPR spectrum. Methods for correcting temperatures measured in producing wells are provided. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving formation fluid within a completion string in a well, wherein the formation fluid passes from a formation and radially into the completion string through at least one opening in the completion string. The method also includes measuring temperatures outside the completion string at multiple depths in the well at which the formation fluid passes from the formation and radially into the completion string. The temperatures measured outside the completion string at the multiple depths in the well are converted into axial temperatures inside the completion string at the multiple depths. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

Apparatus having a fiber optic tether disposed in coiled tubing for communicating information between downhole tools and sensors and surface equipment and methods of operating such equipment. Wellbore operations performed using the fiber optic enabled coiled tubing apparatus includes transmitting control signals from the surface equipment to the downhole equipment over the fiber optic tether, transmitting information gathered from at least one downhole sensor to the surface equipment over the fiber optic tether, or collecting information by measuring an optical property observed on the fiber optic tether. The downhole tools or sensors connected to the fiber optic tether may either include devices that manipulate or respond to optical signal directly or tools or sensors that operate according to conventional principles.

System and methods using fiber optics in coiled tubing

A technique includes inducing a distributed temperature change along a portion of a wellbore and measuring a time varying temperature along the portion of the wellbore due to the induced change. The technique includes determining a distributed flow rate in the portion based at least in part on the measured time varying temperature before the temperature reaches equilibrium.

A completion system for use in a well includes a first completion section and a second section. The first completion section has a sand control assembly to prevent passage of particulates, a first inductive coupler portion, and a sensor positioned proximate to the sand control assembly that is electrically coupled to the first inductive coupler portion. The second section is deployable after installation of the first completion section. It includes a second inductive coupler portion to communicate with the first inductive coupler portion, to enable communication between the first completion section's sensor and another component coupled to the second section.

An apparatus that is usable with a well includes a first equipment section that includes a first inductive coupler and a second equipment section that includes a second inductive coupler. The second equipment section is adapted to be run downhole into the well after the first equipment section is run downhole into the well to engage the first equipment section. A mechanism of the apparatus indicates when the first inductive coupler is substantially aligned with the second inductive coupler.
