An inverted exercise cycling assembly allows a user to exercise their lower body while lying with a back to a ground surface. The assembly includes a support assembly configured for positioning upon a ground surface. A post is coupled to the support assembly. A cycling frame is coupled to the post. A flywheel is rotatably coupled to the cycling frame. A pair of pedals is coupled to the cycling frame and mechanically coupled to the flywheel such that rotation of the pedals rotates the flywheel. A rear axle is coupled to the cycling frame and extends between the pedals. The rear axle is operationally coupled to the pedals wherein the pedals urge the rear axle to rotate. A front axle is coupled to the cycling frame and extends through the flywheel. The front axle is operationally coupled to the pedals wherein the pedals urge the front axle to rotate.

An STOL aircraft structure has a variable-attitude, variable-area wing in addition to a traditional airfoil. The variable wing has an angle of attack that varies from 0&#xb0; to a predetermined angle far in excess of the stall angle. The variable wing area can be adjusted from 0% to 100% by a roller furling arrangement. The aircraft structure operates during takeoff by deploying the variable wing with an attitude exceeding the stall angle, applying thrust to the aircraft so that the variable wing generates reaction lift and the aircraft attains a predetermined altitude, and stowing the variable wing so that the traditional airfoil is the primary lifting surface. Those steps are reversed for landing.

An apparatus for generating video signals from a photographic image previously recorded on film (a cine-video system) which includes a film transport mechanism for advancing or rewinding the film in order to position a film frame at a film gate for projection, an image projector which detects when a film frame is positioned at the film gate and projects an illuminated image of that frame, a video pickup system which receives the image and generates a video signal which represents it, and an output circuit which produces a resultant output video signal. A window generating capability provides for optional enhancement of the video signal within a user-selectable range of video signal values. A &ldquo;Hi-line&rdquo; output video signal containing twice the standard number of scan lines is generated, as is a NTSC standard output video signal and a &ldquo;D-2&rdquo; standard digital output video signal. Advantageously, the cine-video system is implemented as a digital system, under the control of a programmable, digital signal processor.

Film transport apparatus for a cine-video system in which video signals are produced from film that is driven between supply and take-up reels. The film, which may be wound in A or B configuration on each reel, is threaded automatically about a film drive mechanism which transports the film from the supply reel, through a film gate to the take-up reel. Tensioning apparatus imparts tension to the film at the entry and exit of the film gate which, during the threading operation, causes the respective reels to rotate before film actually is transported therebetween. The direction in which each reel rotates to unwind film therefrom when tension is imparted serves to identify whether the film is wound in A or B configuration. Advantageously, a programmable processor controls the film transport speed in response to a user-actuated knob; and this same processor serves to detect when the film approaches its end on the supply or take-up reel.
