A solid fuel turbine engine comprises a centrally disposed axially extending shaft having an annular combustion chamber disposed thereabout intermediate the ends thereof. A compressor is mounted at one end of the shaft for delivering air to the combustion chamber to provide the principal source of oxygen for combustion and a turbine is mounted at the other end of the shaft. The turbine is driven by combustion gases and drives the compressor. An annular solid fuel charge is disposed in the combustion chamber for producing combustion gases.

Solid fuel turbine engine

An aircraft auxiliary power unit that starts and operates at all operational flight altitudes of an aircraft. The unit can provide constant power output irrespective of altitude and additional power during periods of increased demand.

Aircraft auxiliary power unit

The disclosure relates to a system for the co-generation of steam and electricity from a gaseous fuel. A Brayton cycle turbine drives first and second fuel and air compressors as well as an electric generator. Steam is also produced by the system for direct utilization or to drive a steam turbine which also drives the generator.

Combined cycle total energy system

The disclosure relates to an environmental protection system comprising a Rankine cycle power loop wherein a working fluid is heated by either the combustion of a fuel or by heat exchange from internal combustion engine exhaust. A high frequency turboalternator is driven by the power loop working fluid for the production of high frequency alternating current. An electrically driven Rankine cycle cooling loop uses a second working fluid to effect cooling of a desired media.

Environmental protection system

The invention relates to a power generation system comprising a Brayton cycle turbine for directly driving a first air compressor. A motor/generator is adapted to drive said turbine in the power generating condition and be driven by said turbine in the start condition. A second air compressor is also directly driven by said turbine and is coupled to said turbine, motor/generator, and said first air compressor by a gear system. A heat exchanger between said second air compressor and said turbine provides heat energy to drive the system.

Waste heat power generation system

The disclosure relates to a spark ignition engine that is fueled by methanol. Liquid methanol is first heated in a heat exchanger and then vaporized in a vapor generator. The vapor is decomposed in a catalytic reactor and expanded in an expander having an output shaft coupled to the output shaft of said spark ignition engine. A carburetor on said engine mixes air and the expanded decomposed methanol vapor to fuel said spark ignition engine.

Methanol fueled spark ignition engine

Methanol is delivered by a fuel pump to a reformer at a relatively high pressure, where it is heated by exhaust gases from a spark ignition engine and decomposed over a catalyst bed to form carbon dioxide and hydrogen, this being a constant pressure process. The mixture is fed to an auxiliary turbine which helps drive the output shaft of the spark ignition engine. The low pressure exhaust gases from the auxiliary turbine are mixed with air and fed to a spark ignition engine where they are combusted.
