A network management architecture referred to as the Control/Orchestration/Management/Policy/Analytics (COMPA) architecture (or COMPA for short). The COMPA architecture functions to simplify and automate the operations (both management and business process) of a network. In one aspect, the COMPA architecture addresses four use case categories: (1) Resource/Service Onboarding; (2) Automated Product Offerings; (3) Automated Management; and (4) Service Exposure. COMPA enables rapid service introduction into the network and lifecycle management; dynamic network governance via policy; and controlled access to functionality provided by different responsibility domains.

Automatic network management system and methods

A method for predicting operational lifetime of a node in a communication network is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining an expected operational lifetime for the node (), monitoring at least one of hardware identification data, operational data or operating environment data for the node (), obtaining historical failure data for a subset of nodes in the communication network having monitored data corresponding to the monitored data of the node () and adjusting the expected operational lifetime for the node according to the obtained historical failure data (). Also disclosed are a computer program product for carrying out the above method and a network element () configured to carry out the above method.

Operational lifetime of communication network nodes

In a cellular wireless communications network, measurements are received from a plurality of user equipments relating to the reference signal received powers from a plurality of other cells of the cellular wireless communications network For other cells of the cellular wireless communications network having a physical cell identity (such as a scrambling code) that is the same as a physical cell identity of that first cell, it is determined from the received measurements whether a mutual potential interference level with that cell exceeds a threshold If so, an alternative physical cell identity is proposed, that would cause a mutual potential interference level between the cell or the potentially interfering cell and another cell already using that alternative physical cell identity that is lower than the mutual potential interference level between the cell and the potentially interfering cell.

Scrambling code allocation in a cellular communication network

A cluster-based, delegated software upgrade scheme facilitates software upgrade for radio base station nodes comprising a cluster of a flat radio access telecommunications network. The plural radio base stations are grouped into clusters (), and a master radio base station (RBS) designated for each cluster. The master radio base station (RBS) is used to initiate software upgrade of the radio base stations comprising the cluster. The master radio base station (RBS) can also perform a monitoring of implementation of the software upgrade at the radio base stations of the cluster, and on the basis of the monitoring, determine whether a cluster-wide software upgrade is successful. In one of its example modes, the master radio base station can further prepare a software upgrade report which confirms/summarizes implementation of the software upgrade at the radio base stations of the cluster.
