A time of flight sensor includes a time of flight (TOF) processor having a digital TOF port, a digital input port, and a digital output port, the TOF processor comprising a phase detector including cyclically rotating demultiplexer (DEMUX), a first summer coupled to a first DEMUX output, a second summer coupled to a second DEMUX output, a third summer coupled to a third DEMUX output, a fourth summer coupled to a fourth DEMUX output, and a phase estimator coupled to outputs of the first summer, the second summer, the third summer and the fourth summer and having a phase estimate output; a driver having a digital driver port coupled to the digital TOF port and a driver output port; and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) having an output port coupled to the digital input port of the digital TOF processor.

Time of flight sensors and sensing methods

Provided herein are thermal devices and single-use temperature measurement devices to predict and to monitor core body temperature in a subject, such as a patient. The devices utilize a plurality of thermal or temperature sensors disposed on a patch and insulated one from the other and a connection to a machine learning algorithm for prediction and monitoring. Also provided are systems and methods using the thermal device or temperature monitoring device and the machine learning algorithm to predict and measure core body temperature in the subject.

A measurement system and method of manufacture can include: a pressure resistant structure; a pressure inducer coupled to the pressure resistant structure, the pressure inducer having an engaged configuration, the engaged configuration of the pressure inducer increasing pressure exerted on a portion of a user in contact with the pressure resistant structure; a light source coupled to the pressure resistant structure; an optical sensor coupled to the pressure resistant structure and configured to detect a signal from the light source; a pressure sensor coupled to the pressure resistant structure, the pressure sensor configured to detect the pressure exerted on the portion of the user in contact with the pressure inducer; and a processor coupled to the optical sensor and the pressure sensor, the processor configured to correlate volumetric data from the optical sensor with pressure data from the pressure sensor and to provide a blood pressure measurement.

Provided herein are medical devices, systems and platforms to monitor tissue properties such as oxygen saturation, temperature and degree of tissue edema for diagnosis and post-operative patient monitoring. The medical devices may be handheld or portable or may be removable patches. The medical devices utilize light of various visible and near-infrared wavelengths to interrogate a tissue where the intensities of reflected light correlate to one or more tissue property. Also provided are methods for measuring tissue properties, for detecting pressure ulcers and for remotely monitoring in real time a surgical flap on a post-operative subject via the medical devices.

A physiological condition determination system and method can include: attaching a tag to animal tissue; emitting light into the animal tissue; detecting a first optical signal; extracting a first measurement of peripheral capillary oxygen saturation from the first optical signal; qualifying the first measurement of peripheral capillary oxygen saturation as a baseline; detecting a second optical signal with the optical sensor; extracting a second measurement of peripheral capillary oxygen saturation from the second optical signal; qualifying the second measurement of peripheral capillary oxygen saturation; storing the second measurement of peripheral capillary oxygen saturation as a tag feature set; storing a history; determining animal distress based on the difference between the second measurement of peripheral capillary oxygen saturation and the baseline; and sending an instruction to the tag.

Physiological condition determination system

Embodiments concern coupling polarized light at two or more wavelengths across the aqueous humor of the eye (e.g., as part of a noninvasive glucose monitoring system). An approach discloses non-contact and minimal contact eye-coupling designs that are part of a system for providing glucose concentration levels via measurements acquired by passing two or more optical beams through the cornea/aqueous chamber in the eye. The approach provides for coupling the light to account for the index mismatch incurred while allowing for monitoring the light polarization. Specifically, in an embodiment the light transitions from the device, through the air, through the proximal side of the cornea, through the aqueous humor, through the medial side of the cornea, and through the air back into the device. Embodiments address the index of refraction mismatch and polarized light maintaining concerns with a coupling approach that can take the form of contact and non-contact mechanisms.

Eye coupling mechanism for noninvasive glucose measurements with polarized light

An optical sensor package includes a substrate, a wall disposed upon the substrate, and a cover layer disposed on the wall. The substrate, the wall, and the cover layer at least partially define a cavity. The optical sensor package also includes a sensor disposed upon the substrate within the cavity. A cloaking layer is disposed upon to the cover layer. The cloaking layer is transmissive to at least a portion of a light spectrum and is configured to at least partially conceal the sensor. In some examples, the optical sensor package also includes a light source disposed upon the substrate within another cavity at least partially defined by the wall and the cover layer.
