A Holocam Orb system uses multiple Holocam Orbs (Orbs) within a real-life environment to generate an artificial reality representation of the real-life environment in real time. Each Orb is an electronic and software unit that includes a local logic module, a local CPU and multiple synchronous and asynchronous sensors, include stereo cameras, time-of-flight sensors, inertial measurement units and a microphone array. Each Orb synchronizes itself to a common master clock, and packages its asynchrony data into data bundles whose timings are matched to frame timing of synchronous sensors, and all gathered data bundles and data frames are given a time stamp using a reference clock common to all Orbs. The overlapping sensor data from all the Orbs is combined to create the artificial reality representation.

Real time sensor and method for synchronizing real time sensor data streams

In a linked waveform update mode, an impulse-driven, particle-based electrophoretic display may be updated using a first waveform and then automatically up-dated using a second drive scheme when the update using the first waveform finishes. The display may be automatically up-dated using a third drive scheme when the update using the second drive scheme finishes. The automatic updating using a subsequent drive scheme may be interrupted if the desired display states for the region changes after performing the first update. Waveforms may be selected using: (a) the desired display state of a pixel if the desired display state is a valid display state for the specified drive scheme, or (b) a mapped display state of the pixel if the desired display state is an invalid display state for the drive scheme.

Automatic waveform linking in an electrophoretic display controller

An apparatus embodying principles of the invention includes first, second, and at least one pipeline units. The first unit generates synthesized pixel data from pixels of an image and pixels of a previous image. The second unit determines an update mode by comparing pixels of the image with corresponding pixels of the previous image to determine if at least one condition is true. The conditions may be configurable. In addition, the second unit selects an update mode from two or more update modes if the first condition is true. The pipeline unit determines a waveform for each pixel of the image and transmits the waveform as impulse data to a bistable, electro-optic display device. The apparatus may further include a pipeline selecting unit to select a pipeline from two or more pipelines according to the selected update mode.

Automatic configuration of update operations for a bistable, electro-optic display

A method for updating two or more regions of the display area of a bistable, electro-optic display device comprises selecting at least one first waveform for at least one pixel of a first region; (b) selecting at least one second waveform for at least one pixel of a second region; (c) updating the first region by generating and providing the first waveform to the at least one pixel of the first region; and (d) updating the second region by generating and providing the second waveform to the at least one pixel of the second region, wherein the first and second updates at least partially coincide in time. The first waveform is selected from a first drive scheme for use in a first update mode having a first period. The second waveform is selected from second a drive scheme for use in a second update mode having a second period.

Time-overlapping partial-panel updating of a bistable electro-optic display

The invention is directed, in one embodiment, to a method for generating memory addresses for accessing an image in which each pixel in a group of pixels has a luma component, but shares chroma components with other pixels of the group. A preferred method includes providing a memory, having a plurality of first portions and a plurality of second portions. First memory addresses may be generated, each of which corresponds to one of the first portions. Each first address defines a storage location for the luma components of one of the pixel groups. Second memory addresses may be generated, each of which corresponds to one of the second portions. Each second address defines a storage location for the chroma components of at least one of the pixel groups.

Methods and apparatus for efficiently accessing reduced color-resolution image data

A size limiter module used to limit a file size of an encoded file is disclosed. The size limiter module includes a size limiter set-up calculator and a size limiter processing engine. The size limiter calculator is configured to identify a maximum bit size for a set of data to be encoded based on a maximum value for the file size of the encoded file. The size limiter processing engine is configured to be in communication with the size limiter set-up calculator to process the set of data to be encoded and to monitor a cumulative bit size for the set of data according to an order. When the cumulative bit size is greater than a maximum bit size, the size limiter processing engine inserts end of block data into the set of data. The end of block data signals the substitution of a null value for all data units subsequent to the end of block data.

The invention is generally directed to a method and apparatus for efficient rotation of an image. The image is preferably defined by an image matrix in which each datum of the image corresponds to a particular image row and a particular image column of the image matrix. A preferred method includes mapping each of the datum into a memory matrix organized into a plurality of memory rows and a plurality of memory columns. The mapping preferably includes mapping into one of the memory rows: (a) at least two data, both of which correspond to one of the image rows, and (b) at least two image vector portions, a first one of the image vector portions including at least two data each corresponding to one of the image columns, and a second one of the image vector portions including at least two other data each corresponding to another of the image columns. In addition, preferably the at least two data of the first image vector portion and the at least two other data of the second image vector portion each respectively correspond to the same image rows.

Method and apparatus for efficient image rotation

A method for sampling audio data is provided. In this method, the audio data is received and sampled at a first sampling rate using a first interpolation calculation. Thereafter, the audio data sampled at the first sampling rate is again sampled at a second sampling rate using a second interpolation calculation. After sampling, the second audio data sampled at the second sampling rate is outputted. Circuitries and systems for sampling audio data also are described.
